Past the first round it does. I think the top 20 is solid. Guys like Reschny and Kindel should be around where we're picking and they definitely have the potential to be impact scorers. This draft does suck.
They do but they also just need more skill and speed up front. Preferably that's not euro soft. They need to take a potential top 6 center with their first pick, just look at our system and the UFA/trade market for centers.
To me a lot of similarities to 2017 draft. This draft does suck.
Tyler Hopkins in the 2nd. Damn I was honestly hoping for him in the 4th Lol. I was hoping Van would use their 3rd and get Theodor Hallquisth.Past the first round it does. I think the top 20 is solid. Past first round, there are some guys I think show promise but not a lot of them. Tyler Hopkins and Ethan Czata are guys I would eye with the second round pick. These are skilled players that don't have production that pops but have late bloomer/riser potential. Two guys that fit this mold that I wanted us to target last year were Tomas Mrsic and Kieron Walton who have both had fantastic years.
This works. It would be crazy but I don't think I'd grab Frondell in that scenario. Having two Swedes as your top 2 centers. Desnoyers comparables Sean Couturier.
Quite underwhelming from the 9 pick onward. I’m reading like 15 profiles and NONE of a them have any upside except for one guy named Cameron Schmidt but he’s very small. Just trade the pick. It sucks. This draft does suck.
From my limited understanding of this draft, this makes the most sense. After the top-5/10, it's a crapshoot. Might as well go for quantity and bulk up the middle of the prospect pool.If there was ever a team that needed more capital and should trade down its Vancouver.
A couple extra 2nds while still drafting in the 1st round would be ideal even if it takes two-three trades and we finish with a pick in 25-30 as long as we gain some much needed capital.
18 and 50 turned into 20, 54, 61 last year.
21 turned into 26, 57, 198 last year.
If we could get a 2nd to drop back to 18 then do both of those trades and end up with 3 seconds it be even better for us.
Still get a player like Reschny at 26 albeit not really a center.
Sure would be nice to have some ammo for the next Bo Horvat, Jt Miller or Elias Pettersson that becomes available yup. Especially since theres not really any decent centers available as we speak, better to sit on some dry powder for the day a good center does become available. From my limited understanding of this draft, this makes the most sense. Dont think this is the draft do accomplish that. They need to take a potential top 6 center with their first pick, just look at our system and the UFA/trade market for centers.
We have EP40 and then Chytil as top 6 center options, throw in the towel for a really high 26 center?Dont think this is the draft do accomplish that.
I would say Schaefer, Misa, Martone, Hagens, Frondell are the top group. I expect 4/5 to go top 5. Maybe there is 1 guy who falls but probably not past 7.
