Looking at Jake O'Brien at the Nucks pick.
I see O'Brien is listed as center in Brantford, if it's the same guy. Decent size at 6'2 but a bit of string-bean at only 170. But he's only 17 and already up 21 goals and 50 points in only 38 games. Pretty impressive.

But the Canucks are desperate for center depth.....any others in the 2025 draft who are 'possible'?

If the Nucks keep losing, there’s lots that could go in the Top 10.

Issue is that they have so many question marks on the roster. Before even adding they don’t know where Demko is physically. At the half way mark and he lasted how many starts before getting hurt again. D Depth and waiting for Hronek to return. No surgery so will he actually be back to form when he returns. Petey/Miller issue. Boeser ufa status.

So much uncertainty to make any serious moves. I don’t mind using the picks for longer term solutions but not another rental.
Oh I agree with the sentiment but what does a mid to late 1st round pick contribute to the short window we got?

It would be nice to retool like Washington has but you can't do that without a prospect pool or assets.

Yep. One major thing for the caps has been the play of both McMichael and Protas from 2019 draft.

Sadly, with all of their injuries and internal issues, this is not looking like the year for them.

And the prospect wont help us for ~4 seasons.
Nope. Their window, if things were fine between our F, is Miller’s age at 31 now and 32 in 2025.

Nothing internal has any chance of replacing his production. So window was open til his game falls off.

Just to be sure, you are agreeing with me?

I would actually rather say the Hughes contract = our window.

I think the Canucks are basically stuck. Have too many unknowns this season to make a big move. They could if they want, but that could very well blow up on them as the team is not a cohesive unit this season.

Hughes is the cornerstone, but like any other elite player, Sid, Ovy, Mack, they can't do it alone.

If they can't replace Miller with someone good, Hughes can't make up the difference.
