He's gone, gone gone!
Hey people, Pens fan here. Very curious about the direction the Rangers will take this off-season. I feel that the NYR and Pit will absolutely, positively make at least one trade this off-season. Do you folks feel the same way? I base this off of two main reasons:
- Dubas and Drury have made trades even BEFORE the ex-coach became the new head coach. I remember the Ruhwedel trade caught me (and probably most Pens fans) by surprise. Why? Mainly because Ruhwedel was a Sullivan favorite. So, I think we will see more.
- the main reason is the coach's preference for a certain style of player. He pretty much ONLY likes north-south players. It has been to the detriment of several decent, good and very good players on the Penguins over the last seven years or so. I look at the Rangers roster, and I see players that in my brain do not fit the brand of hockey he wants to play. Maybe Drury can/has convince(d) him that he has to change his rigid coaching ways. I'd be surprised, since he has been doing the same thing year over year since 2018. No adjustments. No changes in system or style. You play "the right way" under Sullivan or you are out. Malkin is probably the only east-west player Sullivan has ever stomached for a long period of time. I suppose Panarin could become No. 2. Maybe.
That is the main reason why I feel these two teams will deal at some point. What do you guys think?
