NHL Entry Draft: 2025 Draft Pick Watch

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Sunday morning update…with yesterday’s win, the Rangers moved down to #13 in the preliminary draft standings. Many of the teams with games in hand will make up those games in the next few days as the Rangers only have one game (vs. a very hot LA team) in the next five days. Preliminary pick can move up 10 spots or lose as many as two spots in the draft lottery. A reminder that #13 stays with the Rangers. #14or higher goes to Pittsburgh.

They get the option to send the 2025 pick to Pittsburgh (or whoever owns the pick if it ends up being traded prior to that selection) if it's in the Top 13, or send the 2026 pick instead, per PuckPedia (they confirmed this). If it's 14 or later it automatically goes to Pittsburgh.

I'll just say landing in the 14th, 15th or 16th spots is the worst scenario. Rangers best options are going on a real winning streak to make the playoffs or just lose as much as possible. Win one lose one is not good and win three lose two isn't either because I don't think we'll make the playoffs that way. We got to like win 9/10 of our last 11. This team has not shown it can win big games so I think the chances of winning that much is somewhere between slim and nonexistent.

NHL tankathon has us yesterday and today at 11 and taking center Jake O'Brien. Some of the other forward names in that range would be Malcolm Spence, Brady Martin, Carter Bear, Lynden Laconic and Justin Carbonneau. Defenders--two lefty's---it's possible that Jackson Smith could drop and Kashawn Aitcheson. Two right side D--Wisconsin's Logan Hensler who played for the USA team at the WJC's and huge 6'6 Radim Mrtka.

Just as a preliminary view of these players---O'Brien and Smith might not reach us. I'd like either though. Other than that I like Spence, Martin and Aitcheson the best. That said I could change my mind some.

Having a hard time caring about the Rangers draft. I’m not saying having a good pipeline shouldn’t matter, I’m saying it doesn’t matter with the Rangers. Their development program stinks and they don’t put their prospects in positions to succeed. What’s the plan for Berard, Othmann, Sykora, and Perreault? I don’t know. I don’t think the Rangers know aside from dropping them into the bottom six with no powerplay time, watching the vets ignore their coach, and hoping they turn into stars.

This team seems to get high draft picks in weak drafts all the time. Even if they get top 10, this is apparently not the draft to be excited about being that high.

Today’s update is a repeat. Rangers still in #12 draft position. The teams closest to the Rangers seem to have already packed it in. With a couple of days off, projected draft position could change before the Rangers hit the ice again.

Arent they in 11th due to point percentage?

Same spot. Ducks have a game in hand and tomorrow nights game could actually move them closer to a top 10.

Realistically i dont think they can fall further than 9.

Cant believe that the Rangers, a team that won the Prez trophy last season - could potentially fall below the Ducks.

Thats how shitty this team is.

No one in the Easatern Conference wants the last Wild card spot. The Rangers are retaining the #12 in draft position based on points, 11th based on point percentage. Someone has to win when the Rangers play the Almighty Ducks tonight. After what shapes up as a soft weekend, the Rangers schedule gets much tougher starting next week. The final two and half weeks of the schedule are almost all in Conference for all teams.
