Here it is... McKenzie's mid season list:
Sign me up... I feel like Detroit is really going to like some of these big WHL defenseman though... Smith, Mrkta, Fiddler.Unless there's a lottery win in our future, I'm ready for one of Eklund or O'Brien.
Yeah, I could absolutely see that. Especially Smith.Sign me up... I feel like Detroit is really going to like some of these big WHL defenseman though... Smith, Mrkta, Fiddler.
If we are going to "Nepo" route, I think Manon's son looks interesting. I am actually intrigued by both of these kids playing in the NCAA in their draft season, Cullen Potter and Dakoda Rheaume-Mullen.Will Horcoff... #50.....![]()
Alex NylanderI should be more excited about Eklund than I am. Why is that?
I was thinking of someone with a higher floor though. I have a sense I will be looking at a decent NHL player in the future with above average skill, but will always be wishing he was bigger (or thinking about how much better he would be if just a bit bigger). This sucks, but in 2025 I still feel like we are a small team even though we tried to draft our way out of that problem. Oddly, Eklund isn't exactly tiny either.Alex Nylander
I was just joking, not sure why you don’t like him more. I would be pretty excited to get Eklund, I think he may have more upside then the last few forwards we have drafted in round 1.I was thinking of someone with a higher floor though. Why?Stay away from CHL prospects and go European and the NCAA route, pleeeeeeease.
Noticed that ... playing in Michigan, like his size and seems to be productive. Plays center. I wouldn't mind him in the 2nd round atm. Obviously long way to go till the draft but wouldnt hate picking himWill Horcoff... #50.....![]()
Our CHL drafting has been trash. Maybe Cossa, Danielson, Finnie, Lombardi, etc will amount to something, but our track record drafting out of the CHL says they'll most likely end up 4th liners who can sometimes play on the third line. Why?
Rather target a forward with our first pick that can have potential to be a top line guy. I dont want the "sure" nhler who ends up on the bottom 6 if we pick 9 let's sayGo after big defansman, that can skate and smart playmaking forwards.
Eh. There aren’t a lot of Euros or USDP guys available in our range. Our CHL drafting has been trash. I prefer the European training regimen compared to the CHL training styles.
Just my opinion of course.
Desnoyers is my favorite realistic option. Why him over Eklund? Don't know, maybe the possibility of playing center at the next level???? In addition to what you listed I also like Smith a lot and am intrigued by Bruzustewicz and Nesbitt (though I probably wouldn't take those two inside the top 10, at least not at this point).I was just joking, not sure why you don’t like him more. Who would be on your short list for us among the guys ranked in the 5-20 range? I think for me it’s Eklund, Desnoyers, Lakovic, Carbonneau. I think Desnoyers is being undervalued just bc the Q has not produced as much talent as of late.
I need to look into some of these defenseman and O’Brien more. Was a bit surprised to see O’Brien ranked top 10.
Id rather use our first to acquire first line player, ether play with Larkin or Seider. My comment was about draft general, draft guys like Plante and ClevelandRather target a forward with our first pick that can have potential to be a top line guy. And I think we can make a move for a hague or Miller or someone to go on the letter side top 4 to go with asp seider edvinsson
Think at least one of buium wallinder will make it 5-8 + we have albert playing well. Definetly high end forward is my target
