I think Misa is a legit challenger for #1OA to Hagens. Schaefer will likely be a #3OA pick and Martone will be #4OA due to lesser positional value

Hot take maybe but I'd take Misa as it stands. Taller and heavier than Hagens and Misa is really improving defensively whilst dominating offensively

Then again we need a big, skilled power winger in our top 6 pretty badly too. If we suck Realbad but finish like 4th, Martone has to be the guy

Let's be honest. We would be extremely lucky to land any of those four. If we somehow find ourselves in a position where we are forced to pick between those four, I will be too busy painting the walls to care.

For the record my preference is Misa

I never dreamed we would be thinking about these guys in our next draft

We will be 6-12 somewhere. The bottom 5 will be hard to beat and we haven't played well enough to move past many if any teams. We can't even outright be better than ANA or SJ.

I dunno. We just got 1 point out of 4 against 2 of those teams. I think Chicago and SJ are still pretty clearly worse than us, but I don't think any other team is out of the mix to end up better.

They are still really really bad. We have just enough that we won't be able to touch them. Now if Mo or Larkin went out for any length of time, then we could plummet.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt since I admit to not knowing, or following any of these prospects, but initial research I saw that this upcoming 2025 draft was considered a bit weaker than others…Yeah what a great season to take a fall in the standings.

Heard the same thing and that was my first reaction lmao we can never get lucky with the draft . Its gotta be bottom 5 pick this draft or after that it probably another 2 way copp lol

Keep Lalonde behind the bench and see what happens.
And trade talbot . Lottery pick is as good as ours

Just from my amatuer tracking of the 2025 class. I'd say the first overall is weak.

Hagens has been average at Boston College.

But I think it's a very deep draft in every other aspect.

Wings are not getting a top 5 pick, they will finish ahead of at least SJ, Chi, Pitts, MTL, Columbus.

It makes me wonder if you watch any games, the team literally lost to SJS JUST LAST NIGHT.

Do you realize that if the Wings lose the next game to NYI then they're tied for 4th worst PT% with Montreal? The team is 5th from bottom right now in points but have one or two of games in hand.

CBJ is actually ahead of the Wings already. The Preds are the other bad team with Chi and SJ. #4OA is definitely a possibility. This team is so bad Stevie doesn't even have any players to sell at the deadline.

Last 9 games:
- Compher: 1 assist, -3
- Copp: 1 goal, even
- Raz: 1 very lucky goal, 1 assist, -2
- Kane: 1G 2A, -5
- Fish: no points, -3 (last 11 games)
- Joey: 1 goal, -4 (last 12 games)
- Tank: 4 assists, -5 (last 11 games)
- Burger: 2 goals, -5 (last 13 games)
- Kasper: 2G 1 A -3 (last 13 games), all 3 pts were in the last 3 games

Stevie could waive the first 7 and there would be no takers. Burger and Kasper are on ELC so a GM is likely to pick them up.

If I wasn’t a fan of the Red Wings - a neutral observer if you will - my initial thought would be if the players listed above have any desire playing for that team, that system, or that coach.

It's impossible to trade and upgrade 10 players during the summer, much less midseason. At this point Stevie HAS TO FIRE FESTER. I don't think there's any choice.

Talbot masked the issue for a few games, but this team has been terrible all season. You can tell that some members here have thrown in the towel already. Nobody raises an eyebrow anymore when I say COPP SUCKS. AND SO DOES YOUR TWIN BROTHER COMPHER.

Two seasons ago, I'd have 2 dozen guys either flaming me or reporting me for trolling. I'm pretty sure one of them was Copp's mom or something, lol. Monitored every single one of my posts.

Add me to that list of being painfully indifferent…It’s at the point of comedy watching this team bumble f***ing their way thru 1 game after another - an obvious carryover from last season.

Was on a family roadtrip to Texas this past week and caught the Bruins and Ducks games against the Stars…Gotta give credit to Nill for building that team and making the changes when needing to in order to keep them competitive…Quality hockey is quite entertaining - something we haven’t seen much these past several seasons.

If this team can't turn it around and we end up being sellers at the deadline, dangle whatever you can to try to get a mid/late 1st and pick Cameron Schmidt (if he falls that far).

Size concerns be damned, if this kid can be on pace for almost 80 goals in the W, he's doing something right.

Berggren is not on his ELC but would need to clear waivers. Kasper is on his ELC but would not need waivers, so nobody would have a chance to claim him. But I think he's up permanently either way.

You're right, Burger signed one year RFA contract. My point was that those 2 players are the only ones on that list with any value. Everyone else has negative value because of the salary cap.

Tuning into the Leafs Oilers game with more interest than the Wings Shark game was my turning point. I have grown tired of the perennial too soft roster, with complete utter failure on the UFA front. Yzerman must think it is 2002 and the kids can get overripe in GR. The problem is the fruit in Detroit has gone from over ripe to flat out ROTTEN!

Hey guys! Remember when this thread was about prospects to watch for the 2025 draft?

So is there a hard to play against winger that doesn't know how to score?

Draper will never pick Misa or Martone. This team obviously needs more guys who can't score, so eventually we'll get that #1OA generational pick.

I honestly think Stevie should just tank this season and get one of those 2.

I am not worried at all about the 2025 Draft, whether it's considered strong, weak or average. It's too soon to know anyway. What we do know is that SY has had eight first-round picks, four of them in the NHL and the next four will be, possibly next season for at least a few games. None of them look like the kind of first-round whiffs that can set back a rebuiid, and more than a few of them have serious upside or have already proved they do. So whether we get lottery lucky, which would be super cool, or pick 12th there's no reason for anyone to think we'll screw this up or heaven forbid wish Kenny was doing the picking instead.

Though too soon to be sure, way things are going we'll probably pick 6-10 OA. A guy I have liked from the start of the season has been Caleb Desnoyers, a good-sized C with skill, smarts and a two-way game. He's like most of the Wings' first-round picks, a good work ethic and is more than just a one-trick pony reliant on a specific skill. He's physical, EP has him at 172 pounds which might be 15 pounds low. Didn't seem likely to be available middle of the first round and the Q hasn't been where we've gone at all, but probably deserves some extra attention.
