2025 DRAFT Discussion

Mrtka said Seider and Hedman are his favorite players.
How about:
Lakovic Danielson MBN
As your second or third line in about 3-4 years

more from hockey writers below . ide be totally happy with pick if yzerman sees him a a stud two way 3C as im for depth over being top heavy . draft tons of two way guys and sign them long term early to build the YZER'FENCE
Connor mcdavid, Leon Draisaitl, Matthew Tkachuk, and Alex Barkov will bulldoze right through your “yzerfence”. You can’t build a team with just depth. Then you get the Calgary flames

After reading the EP draft guide my first round favorites are still about the same.

Martin, Bear, Aitcheson, Eklund. Cootes is someone I consider here. Also maybe Fiddler. Not really higher or lower on anyone here.

The rest of this draft looks supremely disappointing to me and I dot expect many top 6ers to develop from it, but we can mine for solid bottom of the lineup depth, which we sorely lack in the system and on the team now.

Theres some solid 3rd line upside options in the second I like.
Cole McKinney will almost certainly be at least a good 4th liner and defensive forward.
Cullen Potter if he falls because his size might be a steal but has a lot of bust potential.
William Moore is another guy that I think has a safe floor of a positive 4th liner.
Mason West might be worth a pick as a project. I haven’t seen any of him and he barely played USHL so he’s hard to judge,
Charlie Tretheway has been a favorite of mine for months but might go late 1st. He looks like a safe bet #5 that could become a 3 or 4.
William Horcoff would be great but I think he’s gone in the 20s. If his skating gets better he might turn into a top notch 3rd liner.
Eddie Genborg might become another Oskar Sundqvist. I’ve got time for that in the 2nd. Even better in the 3rd.

He could always change his mind , right? It's still 50-50,
Yeah, that’s a tricky one.

I mean what if he plays well during his senior season of football and gets some better offers?

Easy to say you are committing to hockey long term when you are comparing offers from BC/Mich st to some MAC school offers in football. But what if the bigger football programs have interest?

Probably third round?

cootes and nesbit had some good results

and im moving back towards my very first pick in lakovic , this guy has offensive talent , skates and great reach .
and i dont care if hes a finess player as long as he can deal with opponants rough treatment . theres also
bear , this guy is a competitor with smarts n competitive ruggedness that could play in the top 6

If Bear hits I could see a line of Bear-Kasper-MBN doing work.
