NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

I don't think he's NHL ready. He wasn't even SHL ready this past season. We've seen with Letourneau that a guy jumping over 1 level to go to one that is (at least) 2 levels higher doesn't lead to success.

Leave him in Sweden, let him get a year in the SHL and then see where you are. I don't think there's a single guy taken after the top 3 or 4 who will play in the NHL this year.

There could be zero.

It was also painfully obvious that DeBrincat was the most talented player available. Still amazes me that Sweeney and nine more GM's after him passed on DeBrincat because he was short.
Memory is fuzzy but other than Glorydaze and Dom I didn't read anyone mentioning ABD back then. 855 of us were saying he was too small for his game to translate IIRC

Not only are you correct, this place would have been full on meltdown if they picked a short kid. Just like they would have been if we picked Lane Hutson.
I was pounding the imaginary table for USHL wunderkind Cameron Morrison, Leading rookie scorer in the USHL, 6-3 and 215 lbs at 18 years old. Throw in the first name of Cameron and was there truly any other choice??? :)

Insomnia mock

1. C-Jake O'Brien
2a. G-Alexei Medvedev
2b- C Ethan Czata (maybe Mason West if he chooses hockey over football)
3- D Jacob Rombach if lefty, D Sean Barnhill if righty
4- F Filip Ekberg (PJ pick)
5-F Charlie Cerrato (my personal fave)---could also go for Kvasnicka, Cullen or Svrcek IMO.
6- G John Parsons (I think they target two goalies this draft)
7-D Caeden Herrington (mandatory late Bruins defenseman)

my insomnia is from ice cream to late and a cat that’s hungry what’s yours from - miss your dad? He’s watching over you Lou I’m expecting big things from Mets, Vikings, and yes the Bruins

23rd in his draft class in points. Way outperformed his draft position.

Way outperformed? He is 24th in points, not 23rd and there are probably 5-6 players taken after Frederic, I would prefer instead of him with Lindgren, Fabbro, Macleod,Gregor, Essymont. All the forwards can play with faster pace then Frederic which come PO has been his Achilles Heel.

How do we know that? Jordan Kyrou went 6 picks later. I know you despise him but Andrew Peeke was a better pick than Frederic (5 picks later) We all know about Debrincat. 36 picks later a Norris Trophy winner was taken. Who know maybe the Bruins had Fox rated in the high 1st/low 2nd as they did Frederic?

We are talking about a forward who here we are 9 YEARS LATER just barely cross the 100 point plateau. Is that anything to hang your hat on?

Sweeney's issue is that players taken either immediately after ('15 Conner, Barzal
'17 Thomas) or in Frederic's case in '16, Kyrou\DeBrincat within 8 picks with significantly more production in their draft years, were not taken.

It isn't just his reaches, it's his penchant for taking the wrong guy in 3 straight drafts,
where he had six 1st Round picks, not to mention having no one left on the team
from the at least nine 1st RD\2nd Round picks from 2015-2017.

Yeah, I do, He didn't like Soto or Alonso though for whatever reason and they stink now lol. I had a later nap as well.

who is #8 Eklund? I almost want to take him then worry about centers next season's draft. Plus then I will actually get to DEFEND Sweeney haha
Yes

I really wish time traveling was real I’d like to go see who’s there on the 26th this morning so I could do my lines

I don’t count 15

Sweeney problem was allowing the name uhro Vaakanainen uttered instead of Robert Thomas (or Josh Norris)

Frederic was wild - I was at the Bruins draft party

Btw here is my draft party yield

2017 Bruins team signed golf bag
2009 autographed Bruins jersey
2007 Bergeron jersey

Because they been trading first picks so no draft parties - all won with a single ticket

Anyways enough about me (for now) I was so pissed at the Frederic pick I didn’t talk the entire way home and blew off day 2 on NHL Network and cut my lawn

However my 3 guys where Frederic went were
1. LaBerge Flyers took
2. Lindgren Bruins ironically got st 45?
3. DeBrincat

I actually wanted DeBrincat but because other two were on the board I would have missed him

I think Frondell is there at 7 but a lot depends on the Flyers. The first two picks are obvious and then I think Hawks go with Porter Martone. They need someone with size to play with Bedard. The next three picks all need centers and are a toss up

Utah - Desnoyers is rising and makes sense here
Preds - Hagens isn't getting past them
Flyers - Would probably love Desnoyers but he likely is gone by now so it comes down to O'Brien vs. Frondell. Flyers NEED a 1C and have the patience to develop O'Brien. He has the higher ceiling. If I'm them I go with O'Brien but if I was the Bruins picking 6 then Frondell makes more sense.

Late first round picks have about a 50ish percent chance of playing 100 nhl games. Frederic has played over 300. I also prefer some of those players, but it doesn’t change the fact that his career is much better than the average late first.

If we just look at first round picks and their production, he is 15th in points from this draft. Finding the 15th most productive first rounder at 29 is a good pick

If Frondell waited for a year (he obviously won't) and was 18 in next year's draft, he'd be what, 4th overall?

Mckenna
Fyodorov
Bjorck
Frondell?

There is so much to like about this list. Medvedev to me is the third best goaltender in this draft class. I think the other two will be gone by then making him the best available to the Bruins.

I like it, but not to sure OBrien has a higher ceiling than Frondell.
