He was a first round pick by Quebec but blew out knee or something ~ I gotta laugh I remember him he was at BU and had a great flow ~ he’s super bald now. I don’t want a bald GM or coach. I’ll ask my BU buddy former player he knows him and will get the skinny

He’s always liked Boston area guys so Hagens makes sense even though he’s a BC guy

My 5 weeks away draft top 7

1. Islanders- Schaefer
2. Sharks - Misa
3. Chicago - Desnoyers
4. Utah -Martone
5. Nashville - Hagens
6. Philadelphia- O’Brien
7. Bruins - Frondell/Eklund

Eklund continues to outplay him and show higher hockey sense but Fribdell a C with size and skills ~ he doesn’t yet show the 6th sense that leads to big production. We will see I can be talked into him by people I respect and know more about him

Right now I take Eklund ~ his size & position down play his draft spot

But in the end you need 4 high end skilled wingers and the Bruins only have Pastrnak and possibly Geekie

Eklund adds the third guy and gives you a potential dynamic 1-2 RW punch

He’s got
Speed
Feistiness
Playmaking ability
Scorer

He is compared to Bratt & his brother

Man I'd have no problem getting Frondell!

Yes, there are definitely people who think several of the centers in the draft are more likely to end up at wing in the NHL. And Frondell seems to be near the top of that list

Sweeney & Neely went to recent tourney and Frondell was not good by all accounts ~ they better be sure he’s capable of being early Shawn Monahan production with physical edge

Frondell has a ton of skill and a real smooth element when he’s around the puck. He makes difficult plays with consistency and can do so on the move. Frondell skates well and competes hard, often outmuscling others bigger than him so despite his average size, he has a translatable style of play to the NHL that appeals to scouts. Frondell is a great playmaker but he’s also a very dangerous shooter with a bullet shot that projects to beat NHL goalies from range. He has the potential to be very good all-around top two line center even if he’s often played wing this season.

Frondell plays a low-key all-around game. He’s also performed at a high level, playing second division pro in Sweden. Frondell does just about everything well, and while he didn’t have a great U18, he has shown he can play successfully with older, faster players.

Frondell is great at making himself a threat in the quiet areas on the ice as he opens himself up for an opportunity or can take the puck and drive to the middle, excelling with his hands and puck control in tight spaces. He can beat defenders one-on-one easily when he has the puck, using quick one-touch moves, cuts to the inside and drive to the open space. He’s a dual threat offensive producer as he has a powerful one-time shot and has a swift and accurate wrist shot. His playmaking is just as impressive, showing great deception, drawing players in and using his vision to spot his teammates and put the puck in the right spot.

While he can be a versatile and engaging threat offensively, Frondell’s ability to be a reliable defensive presence makes him a well-rounded player. Much like his ability to use his size in the offensive zone, he hounds pucks very well and converges on puck carriers to force them into making a mistake and create a turnover with his angling and positioning very well. Whether he has the puck or not, he has great attention to detail and does the little things right on the ice. He’s a player that you can rely on in any situation and can do it on a consistent basis.

I would definitely give Frondell the edge in shot as well as physicality. You can argue that Frondell has the best shot in this draft.

Compete level is a wash. They both compete hard.

If McQueen’s medicals come back clean at the combine, I could see it. He’s so risky but if he played a full season this year, he’s going Top 5. It’s not like he had a bad year. He was over a PPG.

I still would prefer others but I get the argument.

That said, he gives me big stiff vibes. For the possibility he’s the next “Getzlaf,” I easily see the potential he’s just another Logan Brown or Michael Rasmussen.

I would agree, but Eklund is a gamer. He plays on the same team as Frondell so he is finding success playing against men already. There's also his brother's success with San Jose to go off on. They are both 5'11 and Victor is 20 lbs lighter but also two years younger. If we go off the Athletic's list, I think Eklund would be the best option at #7.

His medicals will be important for sure, but where the Bruins stand roster-wise, they need to hit on this #7 pick so that the player they draft can be added to their core. In my opinion, McQueen just has too many risks associated with him to draft where they are picking. The Bruins already drafted a big center project in Letourneau. If you told me the Bruins currently have a solid top 5 forward core, but they could use a high-risk high-reward forward, then McQueen may make some sense. Geekie, Lindholm, and Pastrnak are really the only locks for the Bruins top 6 next season, and Pastrnak is really the only core forward of those three. Once could say Lindholm is a core forward due to his contract, or Geekie will be, but I think those two assertions remain to be seen.

Every year there are unexpected risers and fallers in the top 7 or 8. Some go marginally higher, some are significantely higher like Sennecke or Moritz Seider.
I think its very possible that one or more of:
McQueen
O'Brien
Martin
Eklund
Smith
Mrtka
gets taken above us and one or two of those top 6 falls. I saw a mock draft on youtube where Martone and Desnoyers fall to us and the Bruins pass on them for Cullen Potter at 7, so who knows.

Based on that, I’ll settle for a guy that couldn’t do a push up.

It’s why this stuff is so hard. I’d have written off the guy above as not having the drive not to show up to testing able to do all the stuff he had to know they’d ask him to do. Weak and not dedicated.

Today, the guy above still might not be able to do a chin up. We’ll never know because he always elbows the tester in the head and the guy is always so concussed he isn’t saying shit.

None, not one of the 2015 three were able to do a pullup. Of course it was at the workout at Ristuccia after the draft
with the big wheel's and the media all there to gloat over the three firsts.

I don't dispute any of that. My issue is with the Laws of Physics...

Force = Mass x Velocity.
