NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

Couldn’t they slide Frondell to wing as well? I mean I agree with you on the need for elite scoring and wing depth, which between the two is the more natural goal scorer? Who’s got the better shot?

Yes, there are definitely people who think several of the centers in the draft are more likely to end up at wing in the NHL. And Frondell seems to be near the top of that list

Man I'd have no problem getting Frondell!

Imagine him with NHL level skating coaches?

That shot is nasty. Seems like top 5 talent, at 7.

My concern is hockey sense - physically yowza but I’ve seen questionable decisions

If the paid scouts convey to me he’s got high or good iq I’m fine

If you create a list of boxes to check off like:
Size
Skating
Shot
Hockey Sense
Playmaking
Compete level
Physicality ( takes body)

IMO the only box Frondell checks over Eklund is Size.
I like both players, just think at this time, Eklund is the better player.

the knee history doesnt scare you off even a little with Frondell? Bruins seem to miss when they get 1st rounders, really cant take one with any question marks.
my take is Elias will work very well with Pasta stylistically etc

He’s not just racking up points he’s dominating in Worlds and should have been Sweden player of game yesterday v Canada

The one center I want after Misa goes is Desnoyers

Now that the Toews comps are coming out does Chicago take at 3?

He’s on this weekend 8 pm in Memorial Cup : Moncton (Desnoyers) v Dale Hunters loaded London team

London got a couple of guys going in top 2 rounds but bunch of first rounders from last year who will be in NHL shortly including Cowen with Leafs

Brady Martin I hope goes before us - he’s a 6 foot C who’s style will be tested during a long season and against huge defenseman

Plus he runs a few guys he will be targeted and better be a good fighter

One thing running teenagers another the Vegas defense

I’m at Eklund but I can be won over

Locks I think before 7
Schaefer
Misa
Desnoyers
Hagens

Very unlikely
Martone

So where do Flyers go ?

Desnoyers would be great pick; Martone could be the Cutter Gauthier replacement

Martin would be nuts to me but it’s Philly

O’Brien or Frondell

Boston RW after Pastrnak is a complete J-O-K-E

If you are signing Marner ok
If Pastrnak says Necas is going to FA he’s coming to play with me ok

But otherwise the one of Frondell or JOB I’ve got to be in love with

McQueen is the 2015 hell yeh guy not in 5 weeks ~ although I’d say there is a chance he’s getting love

Sweeney & Neely went to recent tourney and Frondell was not good by all accounts ~ they better be sure he’s capable of being early Shawn Monahan production with physical edge

They can’t get a guy who can’t make plays and doesn’t see ice well or anticipate

From the if playoffs only fun draft in Athletic

7. Anton Frondell, C, Djurgarden (Allsvenskan)

Frondell plays with an edge, competes well and has enough offense to be dangerous. His versatility as a forward who can play with pace, dangle, finish chances or battle in traffic makes him playoff-relevant. He’s physically mature and has shown he can score versus men.

Note JOB is 5 & McQeeen 6

Frondell sounds like a perfect Flyers player here

Cant see how the Bruins could pass on Frondell if he's there at 7 and take a winger

Corey Pronman (The Athletic)

Frondell has a ton of skill and a real smooth element when he’s around the puck. He makes difficult plays with consistency and can do so on the move. Frondell skates well and competes hard, often outmuscling others bigger than him so despite his average size, he has a translatable style of play to the NHL that appeals to scouts. Frondell is a great playmaker but he’s also a very dangerous shooter with a bullet shot that projects to beat NHL goalies from range. He has the potential to be very good all-around top two line center even if he’s often played wing this season.
Sam Cosentino (Sportsnet)

Frondell plays a low-key all-around game. He’s also performed at a high level, playing second division pro in Sweden. Frondell does just about everything well, and while he didn’t have a great U18, he has shown he can play successfully with older, faster players.
The Hockey Writers

Frondell is great at making himself a threat in the quiet areas on the ice as he opens himself up for an opportunity or can take the puck and drive to the middle, excelling with his hands and puck control in tight spaces. He can beat defenders one-on-one easily when he has the puck, using quick one-touch moves, cuts to the inside and drive to the open space. He’s a dual threat offensive producer as he has a powerful one-time shot and has a swift and accurate wrist shot. His playmaking is just as impressive, showing great deception, drawing players in and using his vision to spot his teammates and put the puck in the right spot.

While he can be a versatile and engaging threat offensively, Frondell’s ability to be a reliable defensive presence makes him a well-rounded player. Much like his ability to use his size in the offensive zone, he hounds pucks very well and converges on puck carriers to force them into making a mistake and create a turnover with his angling and positioning very well. Whether he has the puck or not, he has great attention to detail and does the little things right on the ice. He’s a player that you can rely on in any situation and can do it on a consistent basis.
Craig Button (TSN)

“Frondell reminds me of Barkov and what does Barkov do? He controls the game from the centre ice position,” said Button. “He’s thick, big, assertive, and exceptionally smart. Like Barkov, he won’t be a 100-point guy, but he’ll be instrumental to helping you win.”
Steven Ellis (Daily Faceoff)

What a season for Frondell. Injuries derailed the early part of the season, but he finished with one of the most productive seasons by a U-18 player in Allsvenskan history – the second-tier Swedish league. Frondell has experience down the middle and on the wing, which makes him intriguing. Frondell has a fantastic shot release and he’s getting even better at attacking pucks, too. Frondell has had to make up for lost time, but he has put himself back on the map as a potential top-five pick.

NHLe is a formula that uses a prospect’s age, production and level of competition to project the chances he will become an NHL regular (defined as 200+ games played) and/or an NHL star (defined as 0.7 points per game for a forward or 0.45 points per game for a defenseman). According to Hockey Prospecting, Frondell runs away with the best NHLe in this draft class, with a 99% chance of becoming an NHL regular and an 89% chance of becoming a star. The only players with better projections from the last two drafts were Connor Bedard, Matvei Michkov, Macklin Celebrini and Ivan Demidov.

Frondell probably has the best shot in this draft class, including a rocket one-timer that he makes good use of playing on the right elbow on the power play. The idea of a Bruins power play with Pastrnak on one side and Frondell on the other is pretty tantalizing

I think Denoyers goes third, to the Hawks.
Then Hagens, followed by Martone.
Flyers take O'Brien or Frondell, we take whatever one is left, even though I really want Eklund.

Hockey Prospects are saying Frondell has a better chance vs Misa of becoming a star? Wow.

For those of you who are not subscribers to the Athletic, their most recent Mock Draft has Frondell going #3 to Chicago. They also have C's going in 6 of the first 7 picks.

They have Boston taking:
#7 Roger McQueen C
#51 Max Psenicka RHD
#55 Ethan Czata C

I don't know shit about any of these guys. Whoever they take, I just hope they pan out....

I would definitely give Frondell the edge in shot as well as physicality. You can argue that Frondell has the best shot in this draft.

Compete level is a wash. They both compete hard.

I can't see the Bruins passing on Martone, Eklund, and Martin in favor for McQueen.

If McQueen’s medicals come back clean at the combine, I could see it. He’s so risky but if he played a full season this year, he’s going Top 5. It’s not like he had a bad year. He was over a PPG.

I still would prefer others but I get the argument.

That said, he gives me big stiff vibes. For the possibility he’s the next “Getzlaf,” I easily see the potential he’s just another Logan Brown or Michael Rasmussen.

I’m glad I don’t have to make this pivotal pick haha

Call me crazy, but drafting 160lb wingers (Eklund) scares the shit out of me...
I would agree, but Eklund is a gamer. He plays on the same team as Frondell so he is finding success playing against men already. There's also his brother's success with San Jose to go off on. They are both 5'11 and Victor is 20 lbs lighter but also two years younger. If we go off the Athletic's list, I think Eklund would be the best option at #7.

His medicals will be important for sure, but where the Bruins stand roster-wise, they need to hit on this #7 pick so that the player they draft can be added to their core. In my opinion, McQueen just has too many risks associated with him to draft where they are picking. The Bruins already drafted a big center project in Letourneau. If you told me the Bruins currently have a solid top 5 forward core, but they could use a high-risk high-reward forward, then McQueen may make some sense. Geekie, Lindholm, and Pastrnak are really the only locks for the Bruins top 6 next season, and Pastrnak is really the only core forward of those three. Once could say Lindholm is a core forward due to his contract, or Geekie will be, but I think those two assertions remain to be seen.

Every year there are unexpected risers and fallers in the top 7 or 8. Some go marginally higher, some are significantely higher like Sennecke or Moritz Seider.
I think its very possible that one or more of:
McQueen
O'Brien
Martin
Eklund
Smith
Mrtka
gets taken above us and one or two of those top 6 falls. I saw a mock draft on youtube where Martone and Desnoyers fall to us and the Bruins pass on them for Cullen Potter at 7, so who knows.

He plays like an animal though. Watch his highlights, he wins every puck battle and hangs on to it in the o-zone. He's got some Willy Nylander in his game (not saying he's that good).

Based on that, I’ll settle for a guy that couldn’t do a push up.

It’s why this stuff is so hard. I’d have written off the guy above as not having the drive not to show up to testing able to do all the stuff he had to know they’d ask him to do. Weak and not dedicated.

Today, the guy above still might not be able to do a chin up. We’ll never know because he always elbows the tester in the head and the guy is always so concussed he isn’t saying shit.
None, not one of the 2015 three were able to do a pullup. Of course it was at the workout at Ristuccia after the draft
with the big wheel's and the media all there to gloat over the three firsts.

I don't dispute any of that. My issue is with the Laws of Physics...

Force = Mass x Velocity.

He's seriously lacking in the Mass department and durability should be a concern in the NHL.
