NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

still on the trade the pick choice, it's a crap shoot even at 7 ..better odds crap shoot but still a crap shoot ...weaker draft as well ...we need help now not in 3-5 years. Hopefully you wait to see if someone you really want drops, if not, I hope for some draft day last second trade drama

Most of the discussion here has been on the #7 pick. That’s understandable as the Bruins normally don’t pick in the top 10.

I’m eager to see the remaining picks on day 2. The B's have a good number of picks this time. Will they use some to trade for experienced players or will they focus solely on improving the prospect pool?

I heard a crazy rumour today that has Boston sending Mittelstadt ( no retention ) to the Rangers for Zibanejad ( no retention ) and the 43rd pick in the upcoming draft. I would hope that the Bruins would want no part of Zibanejad as his $8.5 million cap hit for 3 more seasons is way too much for adding just an early 2nd pick.

Mika is still a player

I wanted him in 2011 but he went earlier than expected and we ended up with Hamilton, who was excellent at 10 or 11 wherever we got him, just obviously didn’t get good value for him when we sent him packing

Rumour or proposal?

EDIT: Zibanejad actually has 5 more seasons left with an $8.5 million cap hit. Stay away Donny.......stay far away. :thumbd:

Sounds to me like either Eklund or his teammate Frondell would be great for the Bruins. How much would it cost to move up to 5 from 7 to assure us of a better player? Would you move up if you were Sweeney, and for whom?

It would likely cost a lot, maybe both seconds. I just don't know that it assures you a better player. I guess it gives you a couple other options, and Maybe there is someone they value much higher who will be available at 5 and not 7, but there are no sure things in this draft, and you can throw 3-8 (maybe 10) in a randomizer when it comes to how they rate as players in 5 years, and nothing would be surprising

Zib did not have the year he normally has, but let's be honest that Rangers had a similar season the Bruins had and that might have had an effect. Zib still put up more points than Lindholm or Mittlestadt, his contract is more costly than Middlstadt, but I think he would be more productive. I must admit that I am not one going out getting 30 plus year olds, but for a little more than 3 mil and not a long-term contract I would take the shot he gets back to his normal production.

The player we get at 7 will not be in the NHL for at least 2 years.
Count on one more year in junior and one in the AHL.

Easy there Dom, you know that isn't good for the old ticker. Question for you, is Owen Griffin a pro prospect in your mind or is he just having a John Druce OHL moment?
Had a breakout season however, I think he is a late 4th early 5th round pick. To early to say if he has a chance at an NHL career at that point. But I like him in that area of the draft.

Based on these prices, costing 2 seconds, I would trade our pick and move pack to 9.
Then we have 4 second round picks.
Move 2 or three of them and move back up in the late first round if there is someone we like.

I'm not opposed to trading the #7OA pick if its for a young impact player. IDK if the rumor of Kyrou possibility being available are true, but he'd be a great fit. Just turned 27yrs old plays RW and over his last 3 years he's averaged out to 35/35 guy. He's signed for 6 more years at $8.1 million.

I wouldn't bet on that.

From 2023 draft, top 3 (Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli) all stepped right into the NHL. 4th (Smith) and 7th (Michkov) played the full season in the following year.
We will wait and see, makes no sense rushing a player that is not ready to play.
Based on the size ( weight) of the players we can get at 7, everyone needs to put on 15-20 pounds, this takes time.
I remember Pasty in his first year......he must have got hit 6-8X a game and fell to the ice every time. He was undersized, surprised he did not get injured.
Michov played with men for 74 games in Russia prior to the draft and was 20 YO last year, will be 21 this year.
The kid we are drafting will be 18 YO.
