NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th

This Draft the wild card are the Mammoth, if the stick to the script and take a centerman especially Hagen(if there). Then I believe one of Hayton or McBain might be available for trade.

You have to think Utah might be interested in trading back. They just look like a team that is going to want to take a D-man and there would be plenty for the taking at 7.

I wouldn't think the cost would be astronomical to move up 3 spots and I'd love for them to have a chance at either Hagens or Frondell.
If Hagens isn’t picked 3rd, I would love for the Bruins to get aggressive and move what they have to for 4OA and select him. Kid is a stud.

It would likely cost a lot, maybe both seconds. I just don't know that it assures you a better player. I guess it gives you a couple other options, and Maybe there is someone they value much higher who will be available at 5 and not 7, but there are no sure things in this draft, and you can throw 3-8 (maybe 10) in a randomizer when it comes to how they rate as players in 5 years, and nothing would be surprising
Two 2nds just to move up two draft slots? Is it really that hard to move up in the NHL draft? I do think 5 isn't a guaranteed lock, but I think if Frondell or Hagens make it to 5 it might be worth to make a phone call and see what it takes to get that player.

safest pick at #7 is Victor Eklund
In a vacuum, sure. But this is the Bruins. Do they even know what to do with a player like that? It’s easy to say pick this guy, but I don’t know that we can trust them to develop his style well, every offensive minded player drafted after Pasta has struggled to reach their potential smoothly thus far. Eklund is a project. Eklund is going to need time to register to North American hockey and break through the stubbornness of Bruins system, you’re not likely going to see him in PVD for another 3 seasons.

I think Martin is actually incredibly safe, and I would pick him over O’Brien. His storied work ethic shows me that he’s ready to push through the bs of our system and show off his skills, not just his physical nature. He seems like a fine 2c floor, but could have the potential to be a huge impact presence when it’s all said and done and be an icon. OBrien has Lardis too that is lifting his stock. O’Brien will score maybe 10 points more per year, but not the same game breaking/ leader qualities as Martin that you want in the post season. Maybe Martin only caps at 25-30goals/65-70 points, but leads the charge every night with a physical game. He also seems like someone that could slip into PVD by next spring.

Frondell please move up to get him.

Nashville would tell you to pound sand.

On anther note, is Malcolm Spence the first CHL player to commit to US college?
No. There are several overagers that can no longer play junior that have.

There are some eligible for this year's draft that have wanted to, but don't meet the educational requirements. That is an issue for the NCAA this year. CHL players new they weren't eligible before n9w, say they didn't take the early necessary classes to be eligible

I think Utah could be a big wild card in this draft for a whole pile of reasons. I could also see them move that pick for a high end established player. They weren't a hit at the box office and need to get better sooner rather than later.

Bruins picks are in the bottom 3rd of the second round picks. Probably around 12-14% chance to get an NHL player at that point.

Now maybe you have a GM at 4 or 5 who really wants MCQueen, but doesn't want to pick him at 4 or 5. Maybe they want to get to 7 and are willing to take one second, but you would need a motivated seller.

If A GM is at 4/5 who thinks the player available at 5 is more valuable than the player they think they will get at 7 they are not going to deal to get a couple of late seconds

Hockey Reference has them at 68% capacity. Shade over 11,000 fans on average they can seat 16,200.

I don’t think that’s right. Their rink only seats 11,000. They sold all of those. They also found a way to sell an additional ~5000 tickets by offering standing room and obstructed view options, but those are not supposed to count toward ‘seating capacity’ because they are compromised.
