NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

or maybe trade the 1 for a guy who is already playing now in the NHL? You also don't give up that Toronto 1, the wheels could fall off there. 2 and a prospect? That I would prob do

I’m also fine with that. I’m not against other moves. Just specifically on Howard, I’d like.

On Toronto, they could fall off, but I’d say it’s still a safe bet for that pick to be where Howard was taken; late 1st.

Not defending McQueen as I don’t want to select him either at 7 but back injuries vary in seriousness and the combine and medicals will tell teams whether or not it’s something to worry about long term.
If it’s a muscle injury then is usually pretty minor they tend to come from big growth spurts anyways and usually just require more muscle and strength development you gotta remember a lot of these 6’4+ kids are only around 180-190lbs usually once they find their stable weight at like 210-220 a lot of those previous muscle problems tend to go away aswell as just the time it takes your body to adjust.

If it’s a bone injury that’s where it gets scary because a lot of those usually require surgery like Cayden lindstrom last year who had a slipped disc that was pressing on nerves in his back, those usually tend to re-appear again whether it’s 1 year down the road or 10 years you never really know.

As far as I have heard and read is that Mcqueens was just a muscle injury and wouldn’t require surgery just needed to give his body time to develop to his new size add some weight and muscle to support his large frame, if he was to fall past pick 12 though I’d be all in for Boston to acquire a pick to select him he does have top 5 talent in this draft and if he takes a little longer to develop because bruins choose to have him work a couple years with their strength/ speed coaches and their nutritionist so that he’s up to a healthy size come time for the NHL I’d be good with that.

Back muscle injuries can become chronic as I know from experience. Hard pass on McQueen.

There’s no such thing as drafting a “new car” in the NHL. If you played to 18, you’ve got some miles on you. That said, I’m 100% in the “lightly used/engine just breaking in” camp vs. the “take a chance on a car that’s been in a wreck” camp.

Forget that kid. Fair? No. But that’s his problem, not ours.

He may well turn out to be the player he's advertised to become. However the Bruins just can't take any chances. There is too much at stake with #7OA.

Yeah I mean they did a boom/bust last year in Dean Letourneau and while still early in his development his first year at BC was not encouraging. I don’t think they can go with another risky choice this year. They desperately need top 6 talent

Except any draft pick is taking a chance- there are far too many top ten busts/underachievers through the years to think anything else, not to mention the possibility of injury/health problems. The latter has done the Bruins in more than once (and every other team in the league). I don't have a horse in the draft pick race at all as I don't know near enough about any of them to have a preference, but I do know that while they "can't afford to miss" they just might.

Draft 4 weeks from today

Sturm here today

Finals
Brad/US v McDavid/Canada

Memorial Cup Finals play in tonight
London v Moncton

London a who’s who of NHL guys playing in NHL as soon as next season v Caleb Desnoyers my choice if he gets to 7 for Bruins

Sunday
The winner plays a monster Medicine Hat team that has a star-studded cast and the 2026 likely #1 pick

I'm glad the Memorial Cup is on tonight and Sunday, something to watch as we await Florida-Edmonton.

I say trade it. Donny is gonna muff this punt again. Marco rossi is on the table get him and Minnesota 2nd round pick for our 7th overall. Donny drafting is very suspect and we cant mess this up. Get something upfront young that helps.

It was a team with no systems as much as a deficit of talent. If you let cheap contracts fill most of our holes you can get 2 guys in UFA. Realistically we want to fill 2 top 6 spots and a top 4 d. We likely get 2 of the 3. That’s a retool and with a revamped system and cheap competition in the bottom 6 I see no reason why this can’t be quick.

They have to fill 1C, 1LW, 2RW 2nd pairing RHD and some depth.

All while hoping Hampus lindholms knee holds up

That’s a rebuild.

Rossi is a 23 year old centre drafted 9th overall in 2020 by Minny.True, he is a good player but I want to make this pick and hope for an even better longterm player.

You really don’t need a 7th to buy Rossi from them. Word was that it was just Foerster or a 1st. Even if it’s more, we can have dream scenarios with better asset management than that.

If you are giving up the 7th in a trade for a center, they should be better/bigger.

I’m not so sure a No. 1 center is an absolute necessity. While some may not agree, Lindholm made huge advances in his stature in his late season performances on the first line with Pasta and Geekie, as well as his outstanding play in the post season international tournament.

We may be able to skate with Elias as #1;for a season while we explore other options. There’s not a #1 center that jumps out in the FA class. So target a scorer on the wing as your big investment this off season.

Kind of why it’s a rebuild because they can’t make the fixes to contend in one off season.

If our first line is Geekie-Lindholm-Pasta I’d be extremely confident we are not a playoff team next year.

That line would put up pts but no viable 2nd line to complement them would do them in.Anyhow,I sure hope whoever Boston selects at 7 turns into a legit top 6 longterm player here

“ Martin employs an intimidating physical presence to put his adversaries off-balance, strip them of possession, and punish them for having HIS puck- he's a force, with an ultra-competitive nature. There is no such thing as a bodycheck that he didn't finish, and many of the hits he throws are of the devastating, hard-and-heavy variety, making a huge impact on the game- he dominates down-low and along the boards, and launches himself into puck-battles. He is violent and resolute on the forecheck, hunting down puck-carriers like a heat-seeking missile to cause turnovers and uncontrolled play- opposing players look over their shoulders when he's on the ice.”

I mean that would be something for sure. (Not all rankings are final of course).

I just think the ncaa is such a tough league in comparison to junior hockey. The fact hensler acclimated himself and was reasonably productive while playing big minutes on Wisconsin to me makes him under rated. He wasnt owen power on an absolutley loaded michigan team either, which makes his offensive production as a defensemen more impressive than the final stats. WIsconsin was TERRIBLE this year. I watch videos of schaefer and the time and space he has in these highlight clips just does not exist in the ncaa. Im not saying schaefer wont be great. im just saying if hensler was playing in junior instead of D1 on a bad team i think hes a PPG player and firmly in the top 10
