NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

The pieces are not here. That group plus Marchand, Carlo, Coyle etc, were struggling to make the playoffs last year.

We have to replace those guys, give Geekie a raise(or replace him).

This was also a very healthy team last year outside of Hampus Lindholm the first half the year and were barely holding onto a playoff spot.

Pastrnak was definitely dealing with an injury the first half of the year along with Lindholm's being dinged up. Add in Swayman missing camp and Lindholm's injury and that was a huge drag on them in the 1st half. Yet they were in a PO spot at Xmas break.

They make the right FA signings and H. Lindholm's healthy they can make the PO next year. Not a contender but a PO team. Dead wood in Coyle and Frederic gone is a good thing.

I’m
I’ll be happy with Martin.

I’ll be happy with him, depending on how things play out 1-6.

There’s scenarios where I wouldn’t want Martin. There are scenarios I would. This would be a scenario I’d want a different player. My personal center rankings:

Misa
Hagens
Frondell
Desnoyers
O’Brien
Martin
McQueen

I wouldn’t be upset if they went Martin over O’Brien though.

So far, Desnoyers has been invisible in 2 games at the Memorial Cup. Loke has a goal for Moncton, however.

Sweeney said he hated to sell out this year, but thought it was best for the team and next year he plans on it being like the previous years, so bye-bye first round picks.
Jeez, when you hit a low like they did this recent season, I think you're foolish to just go BAU.
They need to take stock of all of the mistakes, missed opportunities, misjudgments, misfortunes etc that
got you there.
Huge mistake to chalk it all up to POOR coaching by Monty leading to terrible mistakes etc on the ice.
(of course they contributed mightily).
Also, the injuries to CM and HL were the final crushing blows.
But, to go back to Business as Usual, after that disaster of a season, baffling.

I would pick Eklund, DS and Co would pick Frondell because we are starving for a Center.
I like both, I like Eklund and O'Brien but Desnoyers if available at 7 floats my boat.
This of course, is subject to change many times.
I don't think that McQueen would be a wise move but he may be the best player
to have his career ended before it takes hold.
So, I'm not really thrilled with McQueen. He would be the most disappointing IMO.
I know this sounds looney but I trust that Don Sweeney is doing his due diligence
with this draft because it could be his last if he royally f***s it up.

What if Martin isn’t a C at the professional level though? I suspect he won’t be. Does that affect how you feel about drafting him?

I mean, there’s wing risk with a bunch of these guys? Even my hopeful choice — Frondell — could end up on the wing.

At #7, I want a player who can impact a game. I think Martin brings that element with his style.

He definitely isn’t my top choice though. I’d only take him over McQueen, personally. I just wouldn’t be upset if they went Martin over a JOB.

Instead of Lysell, who would you have drafted? And Why ?

You can’t mention the 3 players 👇

- Wyatt Johnston
- Matthew Knies
- Logan Stankoven
No way at the time they should have taken any of 3 over them at the time ~ if any Bruins fan had it post a screen shot dated before to verify

I had multiple draft guides watched all sorts of videos and Lysell was the guy

The Bruins need guys who show up with a scoring mentality - they really only have two in Pastrnak & Geekie. From my research Frondell and Eklund jump over the boards trying to do just that

Lindholm was exactly that at IIHF. Zacha has a great shot but defers quite a bit

If Desnoyers slips to 7 no brainer but scoring is what they need and Martone, Frondell, and Eklund all would be where I go

One of them has to be there minimum

Poitras and a 3rd doesn't get back a top 10 pick. Not at all.

Would Boston's 1st and Lohrei get you San Jose's #1? Be an interesting exercise for Sweeney to gauge #6 value to SJ as Warsofsky coached him for 4-5 games or so. Of course Warsofsky replaced him with Buium for last 5 games. However the US LD
was strong with Skjei, Vlasic and Buium there. I would imagine Werenski got some LD time also.

And how many of those draft guides had the warnings about his attitude? At the time I liked the pick but looked at it as a gamble, it's a gamble that failed. Time to package him and try to get another second round pick or better prospect. I'm sure the Red Wings would love another soft, fast player.

The latest Athletic mock draft has the Bruins taking O’Brien. That relies on the Flyers taking Martone at 6, which I find hard to believe they wouldn’t take O’Brien there. They need high end centers in their pipeline about as badly as the Bruins do.

Sure, but at the same time, I certainly couldn't be surprised if they took Martone because he is also a perfect fit for their organization, and their new coach. Even though I have some doubts about Martone's upside he is certainly tantalizing

I think Martone is about as far from a fit as anyone in the top 10. They need a play driver and creator-preferably a good skater. Martone may be good but is not what they need.

Lysell can't have an attitude, he's a Swede.
