NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

yea probably not

I like Lysell and Poitras a lot, but I'd be willing to ship them out with some 2nd's this year and a first from next year, maybe Toronto's as the league may look at them as falling a bit

although teams will likely be smart enough to ask for Locmelis instead, and then I hang up the phone

something like Lysell + 2nd from this year + A first from next year (dealee's choice) for the 8th or 9th overall

I actually think the toughest part of this deal is knowing if eklund will even be available if you can only get a pick in the 9th-12th range
I guess I don’t get the line of thinking many have to package up good assets we have for another pick this year. We need volume in our system. I’d much rather see those picks traded for players much further along the development curve than another top pick in a weak draft.

that I can totally agree with

however, if the pieces fell into place and you had an opportunity to bring two guys who have chemistry and sort of a dynamic duo from their current club, it's worth looking at

Bruins have a lot of pieces to play with and the focus for Sweeney, as far as I can tell, is focused on a retool right now, so i imagine they'll move a lot of those pieces for roster players either way.

I wouldn't do it, to be clear, for just any top 10 pick, I would do it if you could for sure grab both Frondell and Eklund. They could both start contributing as soon as next season, and they set you up for Pasta's later years and a transition into a new team when your current core reaches their shelf life

I strongly disagree with this. A rebuild goes all the way down. There's still structural pillars to this team. Pastrnak, McAvoy, Lindholm, Swayman. We also saw Zadorov turn the corner in the 2nd half of the season, and Lindholm just led the Men's Worlds in scoring. The pieces are here - they just need them to execute. I think having the right coach in place and adding in the right supplemental pieces this offseason can put this club right back into the mix.

The pieces are not here. That group plus Marchand, Carlo, Coyle etc, were struggling to make the playoffs last year.

We have to replace those guys, give Geekie a raise(or replace him).

This was also a very healthy team last year outside of Hampus Lindholm the first half the year and were barely holding onto a playoff spot.

In the first half of the year, we had Swayman, who was reeling after a lack of training camp, a coach who had a declined 3-year agreement on the table and was mentally checked out, Zadorov adjusting to the system, and Elias Lindholm suffering from an ailment he had from camp. Last season was a perfect storm of shit... just to name a few examples.

yep and then Hampus kneecap break and McAvoy shoulder injury that parlayed into a serious but rare case of MRSA that sidelined him the rest of the year, no way they were making the playoffs down the stretch with so many things going wrong.

They are all there at 7...

Do you pick

Frondell
O Brien
Eklund

9. Victor Eklund, RW (Djurgardens, Allsvenskan)

Eklund is so, so skilled. He makes things happen with the puck that very few can, and he’s got an excellent shot, to boot. I loved him at the World Juniors because it felt like he was always involved in the puck play. He might not be big at 5-foot-11, but he does have some decent strength. Defensively, he needs work, but it shouldn’t stop him from playing high in the lineup. His skating continues to get better and I’m excited to see what an NHL coaching staff can get out of him there.

And the vast majority of the rest of the league dealt with more injuries

My biggest fear with the upcoming draft(s) is the failed experiment with Lysell (so far), instead of going for the "safe" likely 3rd/4th liner they opted to draft a skilled winger and it backfired. I wonder if this is going to be one of the main topics for this upcoming draft, especially with Neely having the final say.

I hope I'm wrong
Instead of Lysell, who would you have drafted? And Why ?

You can’t mention the 3 players 👇

- Wyatt Johnston
- Matthew Knies
- Logan Stankoven

I'm sorry but there's not a chance in hell that package would get you the 8th or 9th overall. Lysell has very little value. Would you trade our pick for a B prospect, late 2nd and late first next year. I'd sure hope not.

Want this guy.

How many other teams had a checked-out coach who didn't care anymore?

Honestly how many games do you think montgomery cost the bruins last year. I would love to hear how much you think a coach impacts games.

The players are to blame.

Maybe Sweeney shouldn’t have held onto a lame duck coach for so long then. Or maybe Sweeney shouldn’t be hiring his bum coaching friends like Chris Kelly to coach a power play.

There’s so many more factors, but it is overwhelmingly on the players.

Really doesn't make any sense with how many excuses this fan base makes about everything.
