WC: 2025 Czech Team

Today I am cheering not only for Czechia but also for Austria. I would love to see a new ream making it to the SF. A bit tired of the same few countries winning all the medals over and over and over. The top hockey world needs to grow bigger. The same applies to Denmark of course. But I see bigger chance for Austria vs. Switzerland than for Denmark vs. Canada.
Austria was pain in the ass for most of the tough teams in the group, they won all the games they needed and in the most important game copmpletely dominated Latvia .. Swiss are obvious favourites, but its not like they have some superstar team, they have 4-5 players from NHL, rest is euro guys just like Austria .. I dont see why Austria cant have a chance here, so I am cheering for them too

Not only to see someone new in semis, but I am also getting a bit of sick of Switzerland lol. Idk why, but getting kinda a bit of aversion towards them. Maybe how they always somehow have all the stars available and somehow always luck out to have easy QF matchup .. dont know just want them to be kicked out lol .. go Austria!

There should be a huge difference in quality between the Switzerland and Austria squad - on paper. But on paper is one thing and on the ice a different one. Switzerland is usually playing good vs. the top teams but sometimes struggling vs. underdogs.

I was curious who gets the Kampf and necas spot... Flek is a good choice. I don't like that they haven't played together and it is a risk but I love Kampf and he plays like a star for NT.

I think Spacek is a place holder for vozeniliek.
I think Zadina has been shipped back to Switzerland.lol

Well looks like this wont be the case lol

Spacek in... Zadina out.

That surprises me. Now that we have Kampf, I was certain it'd be Spacek coming out.

Vej starts. Gazda is out too (I enjoyed him).

Nothing shocking.

Gazda out is crazy he was amongst our best defenders in those games he played ... i would just kick out Pyrochta I am sory that guy is simply meh ... Spacek should also be out and Vozuch at C with Zadina in lineup

Some strange selections ... we will see how it goes

I'm not upset... only thing I don't like is that we have been very good at setting lineups and sticking with them to build chemistry. I like that. I like the second chance if your line had a shit game.

Bit of a line blender today.

BUT.. top line is in tact. Goalie is set. D pairs have played together. He is doing everything to get Necas going.

I did enjoy Gazda but I assume he's a Euro Tyson Barrie.. I assume Rulik love Pyrochta because he has played him a lot this year and he fills a need for him (I'm guessing stability and calmness).

I am a Spacek fan but he just doesn't look like a top Euro to me (Kubalik, Tomasek, Kase, Cervus, Sedlak etc). He's clearly a step behind but he can take a draw and I'm positive that is why he's in the lineup as 13. A C gets hurt and in comes Spacek. I do love Zadina and am sad he just didn't gain any traction here. He was paired with a .ppg NHLer and his childhood friend in top 6 with PP time. Damn shame!

I am telling you he must be extremely pissed to play some shit AHL playoff instead at WC for his nation. Really f*** you Buffalo, thats not how you treat your future star

Hope he leaves that shithole as soon as possible ...

I like how they developed him this year and they are building a C for us. But this AHL one is not sitting with me. Of course, Prospal was behind this and maybe, in retrospect, that Calder Cup run on small rinks as a 1C will help him develop into a great Olympic player for us in February?

But, yeah, f*** it I don't like it.

Idk feels to me like he already outgrown AHL and its a step back for him .. sure playing at WC against Hungary or Kazakhstan would not give him more .. but there are also games against USA, Switzerland, Germany ... today QF .. overall I think it would just give him more

I would be okay with it if it was like Klapka situation playing like half season in AHL half in NHL, then sure send him back .. but cmon he spend the whole season in NHL playing in first line for a great deal of time .. you just dont send player at this point back to AHL imo

Agree. Plus training for a few weeks with guys like Pasta, Hronek and Necas. I guarantee Rochester has nothing like that.lol

Well, I more or less got a good guess about the score of the match and its course. Unfortunately. But we had no answer to this quality from the opponent. Maybe if Vladař had started from the beginning and had a great match.. Vejmelka was bad today.
But what, we lost to a better team. On the other hand, we had a much weaker team than last year. That's just the way it is. The boys need to be thanked, we played a good tournament at the limit of their capabilities.

Well tell me Switzerland is not the f***in luckiest hockey country in the world lol ... they have a way to final completely paved out ... starting to really hate those guys lol
Well we only did our jobs :D and of course some luck but this is what we worked for in the group stage ;)

Do they go Austria then Denmark for a trip to finals? I'm not saying they'll beat Denmark but that is nice. They must lack a winner mentality with all those easier on paper opponents. I want that deal.lol

I know I am just salty, its just hard to not be jealous .. you get US early on when they usualy suck, then Denmark pull off this craziness and you basically get a free pass to finals lol ... just hard not to be jealous thats all :D

Well well I know what you mean but Denmark is now on fire. But, and most important, they dont have any home advantage anymore :D

I'm sure I'll post more because I'm me but, honestly, I really enjoyed the tourney. The players. Agree with Pasta, Cervus and Flek as top 3. Maybe Hronek as he had a lot of heavy lifting.

I honestly have no complaints.

Final 4 has Denmark and Swiss. So upsets were available.

On a crazy note.. Canada has lost to Denmark with Crosby Mack and to Latvia in Ottawa at the U20's. Ouch.

Thank you boys. Great touney! 2 medals in 4 years.

I think our big achiles was our C's.

Not sure I saw much for the Olympic team as far as guys that must have on team. Eg. I thought Klapka might stand out but he didn't do much against USA or Sweden. Same with Lauko.

I saw the final 2 mintues and that was beautiful. You guys just got stronger and stronger and what a great story for Ehlers. Happy for you guys!
