WC: 2025 Czech Team

Idk about Vej .. Vladar was much superior GK at this tournament ... kinda dont understand why he wasnt starting today, it could maybey gone differently with Vladar from the start

Because 1 is a NHL starter on a good rising team who played over 55 games The other is a NHL backup with no contract. I love Vladar (and Vanecek, Rittich) but I take Vej all day long. Behind Dostal of course. Vej has also been to several World's in a row now. Time will tell but he seems like a lock.

Well this definitely doesnt support your argument lol

Not saying he cost us the game today, but having Vladar from the start, it could have gone differently … goals 2 and 3 were definitely stoppable

Of course Vladar is no Hasek either he is 2nd goalie at best, but i think he was in better form at this tournament

Time will tell. Curious where Vladar signs next season. Hoping Vanecek can sneak out a contract. Same with Rittich. Dobes full time. And of course Postiva and Zajicek (one signed and I think the other will soon) in the AHL. Stezka too!

To succeed, you need a goalkeeper who will be a support in crucial moments. And Vejmelka was not that by any chance. Again. Agree with Marty, Vladař was better.

Yeah, I read that this morning too  :help:
I don't care if one is a starter and the other is a backup, you ride the hot goalie and I honestly got a better feeling from Vladař in net this tournament over Vejmelka.

As for the future, we have one player still dogging it out in the playoffs in Nosek, I wonder if all his playoff experience could make him a good candidate for the Olympics. After all, you need fourth-line players who know how to play that role as well.

And anyone know how Šalé is developing? Keep listening for any word about him, but haven't heard anything since the juniors

Two questions for those who followed if you don't mind:

1) How did Necas look? Engaged or playing soft and uninterested?

2) Did he play center or wing, and where would he look best?
Yes lol

He looked engaged
He looked disinterested
He played C for two games
he played W for rest

We got the full experience.lol

Looks like there is no plan on firing Rulik, he has contract till the end of 2026 so we have him for Olympics and next WC which is good and I am glad no hasty actions will be made in terms of him staying with NT. I cant think of another coach then Rulik for NT, so I am glad he will stay.

Also hope he will extend his contract lol, but I guess that will also depend on relative sucess on OG and next year WC too.

He needs to stay.lol

OG will be a disaster for us.. we are with Canada and Swiss and have no D. I'm not going in with high expectations. If he beats France, he can keep his job.lol

FWIW.. so pissed that we have no D for Olympics. I thought we'd have a few more NHL guys by now. I know we keep saying it. But, at best, we will have NHL rookies on our blue line.

Well on best on best Swiss will definitely not have better team on paper then we, but it will of course be a close tough game which can go either way.

They'll have josi.. we won't. There NHL stars match up against us quite well. Our depth should help us overcome. Our G are better for sure (although, their goalies play great internationally). Could go either way. A loss wouldn't shock me.

Yeah it will be a close matchup but on paper we are stronger ... especially in G and in attack too ... in D they are a bit better because of Josi .. but overall we are stronger on paper

That saying it will be a very tough game that can go either way, but definitely winable

Just saw on wiki that Rulik won Gold as an assistant coach at the 2000 WJC. His coaching pedigree is more impressive than I thought. We need to hold onto him!

,I didn't know that one. I knew he was a 2005 assistant coach and that was a unofficial best on best. So he has 3 gold's as a Czech coach in the 2000s. That is unheard of lol
