WC: 2025 Czech Team

So tough QF incoming ... basically doesnt matter who it is, you would say best get Finland, but the did beat Canada so ... I would like to avoid Canada cause we just dont know how to play them ... that would be straight ticket back home

I would say Finland is 55:45 in our favor, Sweden is 60:40 for Sweden and Canada is 90:10 for Canada

Really sucks, after the second I really thought we can pull this off, but stupid fouls combined with another absurd calls from the refs costs us the game ...

Of course if Denmark wins we get US again

Help me out. We are 3rd.

Sweden beats Canada clean.... we get Finland

Sweden beats Canada in OT we get Canada

Canada beats Sweden in Regulation ... we get Sweden
Canada beats Sweden in OT we get Canada

And then.. if Denmark beats Germany and Sweden is first, we get the USA in a rematch.

@czechmate I hope this is correct but I'd fact check.lol

I thought we were awesome in the round robin. Thought we overachieved. The USA beating us could be helpful!

Kampf is on the way and I assume he is the 2C and Spacek is out of lineup for playoffs.

I'd start vej and go with mostly the same, line 2 is the nightmare and I'd go with something like this:

Cervus Sedlak Pasta
Zadina Kampf Necas
Lauko Kodytek Stransky
Beranek Vozelnik Klapka
Flek

Cut is Spacek. Much more likely to see Flek or Beranek on line 2 than Zadina but I was going for minimal line distributions. And 'no' I don't think Flek should get 0 minutes. He's played great. My guess is Zadina stays as 13.

Same D pairs
Krejcik Hronek
Hajek Kundratek
Pyrochta Spacek
Tichachek
Vej

I would just repeat myself.. The results were better than the performances. The team is not as strong as last year. I think that is obvious. Still, if we play against Finland, I see a fifty-fifty chance. If against the USA, it will be a slightly more difficult opponent. But today it was a somewhat timid performance and I believe that the second time we could be better.

I would welcome a USA rematch despite today. I would be fine with Finn's too despite them beating Canada. I fear it ends with Sweden or Canada though.

I never thought we were a gold medal team and just wanted a nice quarter and a chance to battle for a medal.

We did a bit, still we played really good hockey .. our big weakness is D and it showed today, Krejcik should be send to stands for this game its 70% his fault we lost ... we were up 2:1 and the game was stable, then again I wasnt watching so dont know if it was a BS call or not, you just cant get a 2+2 against NHL f***in stacked USA.

Reffing was also ridiculous ,, so as it was the whole group ... that Cooley embellishement was another crucial moment of the game .. we could go to PP and score for 3:2 then instead it was 5 on 5 and PP for USA not long after that where the game was decided.

But still we have to objectively say that USA were better today and they outplayed us. Our Dmens just coulnd keep up with that speed .. thats why I dont want Canada or USA again ... we can play again Finland and Sweden .. but NA teams? No they are simply too fast for this D

Now imagine the best on best olympics...

That adds who? Jiricek, Gudas and Kempny? Maybe Rutta.

Not much faster or better.

Our Achilles heel remains.

I do think they had a great round robin but obviously limited.

Agreed, feel like we can do better against them. I didn't mind today but they were better. I feel we can be better too! Thursday is going to be stressful like always.lol

MInutes were different today.. not as spread out.

Zadina, again, didn't get a single shift.

Spacek, Vozelnik and Klapka were the bottom 3 in minutes.. they also 'led' the team in minuses in their limited time.. Klapka and Spacek were near 10 minutes and both minus 2. Vozelink was minus 1 in about 8 minutes.

Spacek was 17 minutes and second behind Hronek at 25!

Curious how quarters go and what the lineup looks like. One safe bet is that we have seen the last of Spacek.
I think my biggest concern is that we don't have a consistent line 2. Necas is obviously a star but he doesn't have a rhythm like he did last year with Kampf and Kubalik.

I am not a big fan of the "we want a weaker QF opponent" mentality. The winner mentality is "we are going to beat anyone." Especially when you are the reigning champion.

The team is experienced. They know themselves they were lacking extra energy today, which was the crucial factor vs. the extremely well skating, flashy US team. I little doubt the QF game will look better. Will it be enough to win? Hard do predict because the opponent will be strong too. But it's going to be a good game.
