Expected lineup for tonight .. no suprises there. I will still be salty about Klapka being in the stands lol. Kodytek was fine in that first game, but still feels like a shame not using Klapka at all

I see it now.. klapka is a winger. His competition is pasta, cervus, necas, lauko, Zadina, flek, stransky and beranek. And that is all the wingers. I'm not sure what his side is.

Kodytek and kondelik are C's.

If you look at it.. the wingers are beautiful. The C's are very much average.

Last year the C's would have had zacha and Kampf. Then probably tomasek and sedlak (guessing).

I like the d pairs. Not even close to spectacular but solid.

Well guys we suffered through a victory today, but luckily it was victory and we have 5 points .. but today should reall be a wake up call for us, cause this was extremely poor performance

Two games and we played good in one single period so far, thats just unaceptable .. as if half of our team didnt noticed its not friendlies anymore, but final tournament already

Norway today more dangerous in offensive zone then us, that just cannot be in those games. Vej really carried us to three points today.

Necas almost invisible, Pasta ... why the f*** is that guy not shooting? there was at least 5 plays where he had the puck in his "perfect" position and he didnt shoot, but was trying some stupid passes to Cervenka

Dont know what to make so far of this team ... its not working very well so far .. tommorow we must play on completely different level

Suffered through a victory is such a great line

It was not that bad. Norway was playing very good, we should rather give them credit for that. Sometimes they were tough and physical to the point of controversial, but above all they were skating really well. Sometimes the opponent gets better legs and you simply must fight your way through even if it means defending the final 10 mins deep in a box. The QF game, where I have no doubt this team will advance, is still far ahead. At the end it will be all about the QF day, like always.

Well the weaker team playing good usually comes with the fact that the stronger team is also playing bad. If we played good today, then no matter what Norway would did would not cause us this much trouble. Not only we have some absolutely elite players on our team, our core is also much higher quality then that of Norway.

Simply yes, they played very good, but I think it all came from us letting them play like this and us being bad. If we played good, that from the sheer quality difference alone, we should have won by 4-5 goals without some serious problems.

People often imagine the quality differences between professional players much bigger than they actually are. Norway is no joke. They have a good combination of tough guys and a couple of smart and skilled youngsters. They all are in a very good physical shape. Not an easy opponent to play against, especially when their goalie has a fine day. Sweden had big problems with Austria, Finland with both Austria and France. That's hockey.

I have to agree with BigBadBoar and his last posts. You really can't expect us winning these type of games like for example Canada did today, not even close to that. Unless we will play teams like Slovenia or Hungary, we will not have easy games. Quick reminder, last year in Prague, Norway was up 3-1 at one point, we ended up winning that game 5-3... last was empty net goal.

Sure, I wasn't amazed by our game tonight. Outside of few stretches it was sloppy game with plenty of mistakes, but ultimately we got the job done and gained 3 points... On to the next one. Norway has played physical and overall solid game and deserve credit for that. I liked Necas with Zadina, and hope Klapka will get to the line-up soon. The point is to getting better as the tournament goes on. Lots of games left before the QF.

Czech people sound so similar to Finnish people with how they talk about their team's performances
I'm actually thrilled we beat Swiss and Norway. A Denmark win and I'm ecstatic. I think that will be hard fought too! I'm seeing our NHL guys are struggling and I think (IMO) it is big ice adjustment. They'll get there. I'm not worried about pasta and Necas figuring it out. Vej was much better today already. My only gripe is that I want Klapka and I don't think I'm getting him.lol

How you feeling about your boys?

I mean I feel like Czechs are doing way better than Finns. We (Finns) want our coach fired after two games and we have 5/6 points so two wins.. we have not been happy. Before the tournament it was kind of expected too that this team is gonna struggle hard and won't get as much help from the coaching like we got from Jalonen.

I feel like Rulik is our Jalonen tbh. He has the same sort of vibe. You're in the pool of death so 5 points is key and your crossover will probably be much simpler! I prefer playing pools of deaths for the potentially better quarter matchup.

Differences are not that big, but still big enough for us to simply outplay them. Sure they have some really good players, but also lot of them doesnt even play in top euro league and those who does really doesnt belong to top players in their respective teams, whereas we have couple of absolute elite NHL players in our team, NHL gk, two other NHL guys (eventhough one is sitting in the stands for no good reason so far), and the rest are mostly top euro players. The diference should still be big enough for us to outplay them.

Yeah Sweden struggled against Austria, Finland stuggled in both games, but its the Same case, they just played badly in those games. You really think that if Sweden played good against Austria it will be such a close game? No they would completely destroy Austria, the quality difference was even bigger then between us and Norway.

I mean even our first squad we fielded against friendlies with Germany could win this game 2:1 … But from a much stronger team we have now, you would expect more. Not necessarily more goals sure you can outplay your oponent and be unlucky and dont score much, but we just were the worse team for a bigger part of the game yesterday, thats what bugs me.

Idk I am used to completely different level of hockey under Rulik. Fast, dynamic, offensive, organized etc. Yesterday was chaotic and unpleasing to Watch, something we would play under Jalonen. Just bad game overall

We must do 100% better tonight

So, where do the Czechs go from here? Any improvements to be made?

I love Vozenilek for the energy and nastiness he brings, and I am all for giving Klapka a game to see what he can do. I would love to kick out Kondelik and Kodytek, but then someone else would have to play center: can they try Necas at C? Does any other Czech winger play C for their home club?

So far, my favourite player has been Lauko. Always making things happen.

Also, the dude wearing 88 can try to show up more than once per game. We know he is one of the best players in the world, so perhaps he should start playing like one :naughty:

From what I heard, I believe they will not even try Necas in the middle. He doesn't want to play center, it seems (understandably, he's winger for like 5 years now, or more). We are short on centers, it is pretty bad now. That's why Hertl would be such a big addition to the team.

Think Cernoch would be better fit on the team than Kodytek. They could have used his chemistry with Beranek, and roll Beranek-Cernoch-X at least. Right now I would try Klapka over either Stransky or Beranek. But I guess they will not do it.

Stránský is among our best players so far.

Klapka instead of Kondelik.

Now I am reading that start of Kundratek and Kondelik is uncertain in tonight game. Both might be injured. That sucks big time. I would replace Kondelik with Klapka, but definitely not because of injury, that sucks.

And Kundratek being injured is even worse. That was really another gripe I had with yesterday game, Norway players played like pigs, and there was brutal amount of unanswered calls on us. Reffing was completely laughable yesterday.
