Just noticed we have Rocak in the lineup lol, then immediately send Husinecky to the stands and bring Rocak in.

Masta to 13th fwd and Kos to first line, leave 2nd as it is they were great, but find a bigger role for Sikora. Give Novotny and Cihar more space, their level of skill is much higher at first glance then majority of our offense. Other teams giving potential 1st round prospect always plenty of space and we play them 3rd line and 13th attacker with few minutes
As BigBadBoar wrote, Ročák was the worst defender in the game against Canada. Do we really want him on the team?

No I want Mrtka or Badinka there obviously, but Husinecky was utter terrible last night and that wasn't even Canada but Switzerland. They can try Rocak or Volas, whatever, it probably can't be much worse and maybe one of them will surprise us.

The actual good defenders who could take Husinecky place are sadly not on the team

Once again. Ročák was even worse against Canada than Husinecký and you write that we didn't play against Canada yesterday and you claim that Ročák played. Lol.

Hradek and Sikora are two guys I'd never seen play before. Was very impressed with both.

Hradek plays a pro style game. Hard on the puck in all areas, he's big, hits, grinds and has some skill.

Sikora is far more skilled than I imagined. One of the fastest players on the team. He also forechecks well and plays a hard game.

The game against Switzerland showed the separation of the top nations vs the middle teams. The Swiss played hard, but they were outmatched the whole game in all areas.

I still have some issues with the D. Husinecky, or whatever his name is, sucks. If they didn't like Badinka, how they didn't bring Mrtka over him is beyond me. I don't understand why he's there.

What? Special teams were the difference in that game. 5vs5, not a lot was happening either way and when it did, it was shut down by Hrabal and Neuenschwander. They only gave up one goal each. Very even Steven game.

Czechia was much more efficient with man advantage though which was the difference. Czechia scored three goals because of Swiss penalties while the Swiss wasted their opportunities. Whether the Czechs should have been a man up when they scored their goals is another thing but as it happened, special teams were the difference. Czechia's special teams were very efficient, Swiss special teams were trash.

Hrabal doesn't get the best player award in a game the Czechs dominate in all areas.

For the argument above...

I think it's a matter of deployment.

I'm not saying Husinsky sucks. I'm saying him on the top line and getting 20 minutes is stupid. He's not that guy on any team. He is a smallish, undrafted Czech2 defender. Nothing good comes out of Czech2.lol Name the greatest Czech2 player in our U20 history? I'll wait.lol

So, if they are so determined to have him on the team for 'reason' (note: I say politics is the only reason he's here) then he should be 3rd pair and in a Koci support type role. Not playing with Sale on line 1.

Same thing with Rocak. Undrafted smaller player who's probably returning to Europe. If you put him on the top pair, he will look stupid too. Put him on third pair and he'll be fine.

What I'm saying:

Dvorak Jiricek
Galvas Port
Fibigr Koci/Rocak/Husiensky

I don't know what side Koci plays but if he's a RHD then that spot should be his and Rocak/Husiensky should be 7.

I'd prefer Volas but he's LHD and he's not beating out Dvorak/Galvas/Fibigr. He may be a very promising D but, like the ones above, I wouldn't put him on the top pair and 20 TOI.

Deployment is the key here. Lots of guys would look stupid on top pair against Canada. In fact, most of them do.lol

And just to break it up... Skok would've been more welcome if he is a RHD.

I totally get the argument Mrtka is 17 and not ready.. but he's not ready for the top spot and 20 TOI. He'd be 100% fine with 12 to 14 minutes on third pair.

This is the problem.. it's deployment. We have 2 non dynamic players in our TOP 5.lol Do more Sale.. do more.

You switch Kos and Mas (and keep Mas on that PK and he's now playiing with Petr/Zidlicky in a fantastic 4th line, an overqualified 4th line to be honest) and now our Top 5 (that is supposed to be dynamic, right?)

Sale Hradec Kos
Dvorak Jiricek

That looks so much better and is an easy fix and now we have a very solid line 1. Line 2 remains very good but gets Port/Galvas. Galvas can fly around like a 4th forward with those 3 beauts on forward and Port can be a big stay at home Dman which is exactly his speciality. He's david musil. give him Galvas!

Sikora Hradec Stancl
Galvas Port

That is damn good. It's 4 forwards. 5 drafted players. 4 big boys.

And for the love of good.. stop using preseason tournaments in empty arenas to determine your f***en Xmas roster! I swear they went him in August and said 'done, let's go for a beer'. A lot can change between summer camp and December. Eg. Sale was looking like a bust in summer and another OHL year. A lot of these guys are training for NHL camps. So I'm sure Volas, Husiensky and Zemlicka looked great in these tournaments. Just like Lukas Radil looks amazing on the EHT every year.

Wow, now I really don't know what we're going to base our lineup on. Based on the leagues they play in..
This is where absurdity starts to win over rationality at the very edge.

A large part of the players who play for the Czech national team would stay in the Czech Republic if they had a permanent place in the Extraliga team. But they don't. For this reason, it is complete nonsense to write that a player who is not even twenty years old and plays in the second highest Czech competition is shit. Sorry..

And I thought of two players who could be them. One of them is called Kempný and the other Rutta. And indeed, both played in the second highest league. The latter, instead of the World Junior Championship, even played in the third highest Czech league.

How'd those teams do? 2010 is a long time ago btw.

I didn't say he was shit.. I said he's not top pair on this team.

Did you want to argue what I said?

Simple question.. you feel Husiensky is a better D than Jiricek, Port and Mrtka today? He deserves the nomination ahead of them? He deserves more minutes than them?

Based on the leagues they play in..
The leagues they play in shows where they are in development.

So yes, I'll take the players from the higher leagues over the players from the lower leagues. I'll also look to see if they were drafted. Those are all good indicators. Size is another good one to look at. Point totals in the leagues? Roles in the leagues too.

But, I'm asking, what skillset does Husa bring over the others on the team? My eye test sees a guy that can't keep up on top pair (5/6 is his ceiling here in my opinion). My stat watching shows a guy that shouldn't be on top pair for this team too. What am I missing?

What has he done, during this season from October to now to be a top pair D on this team?

How did those teams do? What? I don't understand the question. Rutta never played in the junior championship. Are we talking about something completely different?

Do you feel like I'm standing up for Husinecký? Wrong. I just don't understand what you wanted to say, because you wrote nonsense about players from the second league. That's all.

We must be becuase you said you had examples of Czech2 players on the World Junior team. You said Rutta and Kempny (who was in extraliga that season).

If you are saying that playing in Czech2 as an 18 or 19 year old means you can still make NHL or be a good pro. Sure, no problem. However, the players you mentioned didn't get drafted. Left Czech2 for extraliga. Then became good pros in Europe and then hit NHL a decade later. They didn't enter NHL from Czech2 and Czech2 guys very rarely get drafted.

Nice Hrabal writeup. I got a kick out of the fact that his path to success started in the USHL.lol Almost like that is an amazing development league and a good place to go if you want to be an NHL player.

No, I'm just saying that any strict division by league is pointless.
