Both Shesterkin and Thompson had identical sv% to Vasilevsky while playing on significantly worse teams than anyone else near the top in sv% or GSAA. I'd have either of them over Vasilevsky and maybe even the other two.

That said, I'm glad Swayman is getting the recognition he deserves though. Felt like no one on here talked about his season. The Bruins gave up a lot of goals this season and he was still excellent.

People talking about Wedgewood being the snub, meanwhile Thompson lead the league in GSAA, was a workhorse for the Caps who were not really special of a team defensively.
Thompson didn't lead in GSAA, that was Wedgewood. Thompson led in Goals Saved Above Expected. They are similar things, but distinctively different.

L.Thompson .912 save % and led all goalies with a 29.3 GSAE
A.Vasilevsky .912 save % and had a 24 GSAE

One goalie was snubbed as starter for Canada and didn’t get a nomination for vezina
The other is projected to win the vezina

He barely played half of the team's games. These goalies were actual starters throughout the season.
31 wins vs. 39 wins Vasilevsky had. But Wedgewood wiped the floor with Vasilevsky in GAA (2.02 vs 2.31) and Save-% (.921 vs. .912).

Swayman (31, 2.71, .908) and Sorokin (29, 2.68, .906) are extremely wild inclusions. Vasilevsky is miles ahead of them.

Sorokin was the only reason the Islanders were even in the playoff hunt for as long as they were. The second he started to wear down and not play as well, the team kept falling in the standings.

I think of all the finalists, Sorokin is the one that if you replaced him with an "average" goalie, the team sees the biggest decline.

He played 4 games less than Ullmark did in his Vezina winning season. He played more games than Blackwood this season.

Again, don't think the Wedgewood was going to win it, personally had Vasi there for much of the season. But Wedgewood was 100% snubbed from being a finalist, he was miles better than both Sorokin and Swayman this season.
Comments like this have me believing that Sorokin is still probably the most underrated high-end goalie in the NHL, for about 3-4 years now

Not even an Isles fan btw. He and Schaefer nearly dragged the Isles to the playoffs kicking and screaming

Absurd that Thompson is not a finalist. A good argument can be made for either Vasi or Sorokin winning the Vezina. Watched both quite a bit and still a tossup for me. Awesome goalies.
I mean Swayman WAS the Bruins and he made the playoffs.

It's a tough call at 3-5 and honestly nobody should really be mad if any of the 4-5 guys won either.

Embarrassingly bad game from Tampa. Montreal has stunk tonight and they are just flat out worse. In every way. Inexcusable effort tonight

but avs are a monster of a team
i hate the lightning but they they dont make the playoffs without Vasi playing like he did with their injuries

Avs made it to the playoffs with Georgiev
But everyone will use the same argument to pump up Kucherov

lol goalies are such voodoo man, even some of the best like Swayman are just up and down and up and down
