Hes got 2 years. Then im fine if he bails to get his cup. That still doesnt take away from his incredible career with the Oilers. One decent goaltender away from 2 cups
McDavid needs to play 4 more years for the Oilers in order to surpass Gretzky's numbers. Would be crazy to give up when he's so close. But all the noise about winning the cup is becomming a distraction. You guys need to seriously shake things up if you want to have a chance to win the cup during the next 2 years.

Lindsay (Pearson) trophy winners and finalists from 2000 to 2026

This table lists every player with 2+ years as a Lindsay (Pearson) winner and/or finalist. We have full data back to 2000, and it's inconsistent before that.
For Ovechkin, I'm still trying to figure out the seasons in which he was a finalist.

Wins: 07/08, 08/09, 09/10
Finalist: 12/13, 14/15 and...

I assume this means McDavid didn't win the Hart? Otherwise you'd have to assume they would've surprised him with both awards on the golf course. Would be weird to set up that huge hoopla with his family and friends to surprise him with the Lindsay just to turn around 3 days later and be like "oh yeah you won the Hart too btw."

05/06 was a lindsay finalist as a rookie which makes sense as he was a top 3-5 player in 2006 before a slump in 2007 before 3 years of being 1A to Crosby who was 1B from 2008 to 2010

Crosby lindsay finalist years are

2007 (won), 2010, 2013(won), 2014 (won), 2017, 2021 (bit of a joke he got this one).

Crosby deserved to be lindsay win/finalist also in these uears but injuries and cost him in

2008 - likely 2nd behind OV
2011 - would have won by a landslide
2012 - likely finalist at minimum but solid chance to win
2019 - he could have been a finalist this year vs the weak 2021 inclusion.

2015, 2016 and 2018 he didnt play the level expected of clear cut best player in the league. Should have won ross/hart/lindsay 2 of these 3 years but couldn't keep it up after the injuries and change to his style/game.

Probably, though there is a slight chance they only showed the presentation of the award they wanted to show at this point, while also having filmed the other one as well. I doubt it, but you can't rule it out entirely.

That would make sense. Is there any link/article discussing it?

Edit: Found it. He was indeed a finalist for the Lester B. Pearson in 05/06. That’s insane.

With 2 years or less left with McD and the Oilers, they can't be timid ! They must upgrade the goaltending, bounce Nurse and get a couple of defensive d-men, and upgrade the forwards by not signing guys like Jeff Skinner or Andrew Mang! VERY tall order that might cost the Oilers their remaining good draft picks and developing prospects ! :dunno:

1 maybe not 2. Last year might've gone six but the Panthers outplayed the Oilers, they're honestly lucky it didn't end sooner.

Hard to say Pacific has some teams expecting to improve which will hurt macklins numbers. They won't be all time bad anymore.
I doubt that matters. He scores no matter who he plays.

He played montreal twice this year, scored 3 goals and 4 assists and the GDT in the habs forum was a bunch of you guys saying "thank god we only play him twice a year because it looks like we have no way to contain him".

62 of his 115 points were against playoff teams. 53 of his 115 points were against non playoff teams so its not like he was feeding off the bottom.

Against the 5 playoff teams from Atlantic he scored 14 points in 10 games, which is on pace for 114.5 points
Against the 3 playoff teams in the Metropolitan, he only scored 7 points in 6 games, which is on pace for 96 points
Against the 4 playoff teams from Central, he scored 21 points in 14 games, which is on pace for 123 points
Against the 4 playoff teams in the Pacific, he scored 20 points in 15 games, which is on pace for 109 points lol

He's turning 20 and improving every time he is on the ice. He will find ways to score more no matter who he is playing.

Five Lindsays before 30 is crazy. Assuming he wins the Hart, winning four before 30 also puts him in rarified air along with his six Art Ross'.
Its pretty incredible. Probably have to wait another 30 to 40 years or maybe more before another player wins individual hardware at this pace.

He was also a finalist in 2006. (For what it's worth, I wouldn't have had him in my top three - my choices would have been Jagr, Thornton and Lidstrom. But he wouldn't have been far off either).
