Plays bigger than 5' whatever he is.I considered him but at 5'8 180 pounds I feel like we need more size on 3rd line.

He's 30. Hard pass.Keifer Sherwood would also be a good fit here.
Didnt know he was that old, i'd still take him. Wouldn't give up major assets to get him, but he'd fit in well. He's 30. Hard pass.
So would Donato. Again hard pass.Didnt know he was that old, i'd still take him. Wouldn't give up major assets to get him, but he'd fit in well.
Difference being that EDM just lost in the Cup final and wanted/needed the cap space for upgrades rather than hoping the young guys develop. DET will have plenty of cap space and 100% needs the young guys to develop, so there is no way they don't match IMO.How about this scenario? Since Dominic James won’t sign with Chicago and he’s ’rumoured’ to be wanting to play for Detroit…offer his rights to the Red Wings for a 2025 5th rounder(James was a 6th rounder)…if they say NO?
Offer sheet both Jonatan Berggren and Elmer Soderblom…Berggren 2 yrs $4.5 million and Soderblom 2 yrs $2.2 million, just like STL did with EDM, the compensation would be a 2nd and a 3rd…what you guys think?
Both players are young(Berggren 24, Soderblom 23), with potential, Hawks have the room for the salaries and jobs upfront…thoughts?

They'll also be 25 and 24 this offseason which means they aren't even far from UFA years and probably just get passed around the League until they get booted out of the NHL back to Sweden. They're 2018/2019 draft picks, Broberg/Holloway were 2019/2020 draft picks (both pretty high picks too) and that was one year ago. Both seem like borderline 4th liners (or AHL.)
Not saying they won't improve but in 3-ish years of some NHL time they haven't impressed all that much.
Donato and Sherwood are nothing alike. One adds a major element this team lacks (physicality that can play consistently) the other we have 4 or 5 of.So would Donato. Again hard pass.
I think you're off on Boeser/Bennett by at least $2M AAV.I would take:
Boeser - 5y @ 6.5M (ages 28-33)
Marner - 7y @ 14M (ages 28-35)
Bennett - 6y @ 6M (ages 29-35)
I doubt we get any of 'em though.
What would be considered overpayment for Bennett?
What do the Canucks want as (rumored) return for EP?
They could just swap EP and Svechnikov. They wouldn't need a 3rd team.
I think EP to NSH would make sense. They still have some players you could win with, add a high pick and could trade futures for EP.
The question would be, what VAN would actually want from us.
I don't want to give Nazar++ and I wouldn't want Rinzel/Lev go the other way. TOR Pick, DAL Pick, Korchinski are always on the table
Unfortunately the only reason they may be looking to trade him is he wants to play with his brothers. So it's probably a two year rental for any team but NJ.I would be willing to put a huge trade together if Quinn Hughes would be willing to come to Blackhawks and sign extension. Something around Blackhawks 2025 1st, Levshunov, Toronto 20251st
He's not even eligible to sign an extension until July 1, 2026 so even if he was "willing to sign an extension" things could change. In no way should Hawks be trading for Quinn Hughes knowing there's a high likelihood of him walking as a UFA to New Jersey. Only teams that should be looking are those that thnk he can get them over the hump the next two seasons.I would be willing to put a huge trade together if Quinn Hughes would be willing to come to Blackhawks and sign extension. I'd probably take the gamble if I am Minnesota. They could really use a talented Number 1 Center to establish their core alongside Kaprizov, Boldy, Rossi, Faber, Brodin, maybe Buium. They need to make sure their team remains attractive enough so Kaprizov doesn't look elsewhere for 2026, and they have a lot dead cap turning into live cap next year. Could backfire obviously but when you're the Mild looking to take a step forward into anything more, I think it makes sense in that circumstance.Even with a terrible season EP is averaging 86 points over 82 games over the last three years. He's a 100 point center that has Selke votes. The price is going to HURT.
