Post-Game Talk: Habs lose game 2. Capitals lead series 2-0

Evans is back to what he was before his hotstreak and Armia is and has been injured so it's fair to say that Heinemens production will be hurt, not that he's been great either though but tough to say without him being used with other linemates to make a more accurate assessment.
I'd say Heineman is still the worst offensively despite the old Evans being back and Armia being injured. Pretty convincingly too.

I wonder how this team can actually take the next step other than player growth.

I'll assume finding an actual second line that can eventually be a first line thanks to demidov would be a huge start. That and getting reinbacher in
Internal growth is pretty much the way forward.
Demidov and Slaf should improve.
Add a decent 2C plus maybe Dach/Roy figures it out or we get a winger as a deadline pick up to have a solid 2nd line.
Then hopefully Reinbacher becomes a top 4 RD to give us two solid first pairs along with a Carrier type.
Then a bottom pair that won't absolutely sink us.
All of these are achievable over the next two years, otherwise we'll need to look to deal some players.

So you'd rather draw that conclusions before any experiments are done with more talented linemates.ok then Marty.
Out of his 18 points, Evans/Armia were involved in 9 of them. It's not a linemate issue given how half of his points came without even needing those two, he's just been horrendous offensively.

Suzuki, Caufield, Hutson, Guhle, Gally, Anderson, Dvorak...are these Barginbin players ?...what about Laine, Newhook, Dach, Savard, Matheson, Carrier....also Barginbin ?
Laine sucks
Neehook tried hard with no results
Dach is a lost cause
Savard should have been taking out of the lineup 3 months ago
That was tough to watch, I fee for the kid. Montreal isn't an easy place to play especially when expectations are high. At the end of the day he may be better suited on a 2nd line (today) where he is out of the spot light until he's ready to shine. Taking a step back doesn't always mean a demotion and more often than not helps a players mentality which results in more production.

92 is out now
so no need to worry about that

Like I said,he hasn't been great but I;m willing to see what he could do with talent. It's not as if other lines are filling the net. He brings speed, tenacity and a wicked shot, use it.

They are playing hard for what they have.

It was an uphill battle. You got Gallagher playing 18 minutes as well as Dvorak. They played well but thats not what you ever would want

There is a gaping hole on the second line which sinks this team. Armia, Heineman not able to give whats needed as well, whether its injury or whatnot, its just not there.

The third periods im not sure if its Washington playing conservative or if they cant sustain how they start the game so physical or MTL desperate or all the above but its interesting how the Caps are struggling in 3rd periods
Fixing the 2nd line is a must this summer. Will put the Dvo line in its place and open up scoring opportunities with more favorable matchups.

Hasn't been great is putting it lightly, he has 1 point in the last 23 games. Half of his production came away from Evans and Armia, he can do more. He's gotten a fair share of chances that he's flubbed where he didn't used to do that, that's on him.

There wasn't that much in Kapanen's regular season games that suggested to me he'd do anything special in the post season.
I'm fairly certain we have guys in the AHL ahead of him.
I don't disagree especially because he's being asked to play W which is not his natural position. Two names come to mind from Laval for the playoffs that can play wing.

1. Florian Xhekaj - 6'4 195 and plays Heavy hockey
2. Lucas Condotta 27 years old 6'1 218lbs

You know both of these guys will skate through the boards for you!
I know some here will say Roy but he doesn't play big and is too slow right now

Oh ya I almost forgot

Amuse me,whats your solution to the plight of not scoring as a collective.

I don't think we're that far off honestly. Here's what's currently missing from the lineup:

- After Guhle and Lane, the d drops off dramatically. That should fix itself, more or less when next season starts.
- I know our 2nd line is all over the place, but you also need scoring from your supporting cast. The 4th line has not contributed much on the scoresheet but my biggest gripe is that there's no sandpaper on that line (not much on the team to start with). 4th line should be able to punish the opposition (like what Washington is doing to us) and chip in once in a while (again, like what Washington is doing). There are no big bruising bodies that finish their checks on that line. So what does it exactly do? Play 3 minutes a game?

From what I read/heart KH isn't planning on signing any free agents this summer, I think we can all agree that that's likely a mistake. I guess you could trade for 4th liners though.

You're the one that's not willing to experiment like you have all the answers, so what are they as I asked first.
Where did I say I'm not willing to experiment? Your reasons for his nonexistant offensive production is because of his linemates, well the data shows that he was able to do way more than he currently is even without depending on his current linemates.

Slaf was nearly in tears in his post game interview? What is wrong with this kid?

Soft physically and soft mentally it appears
Why don't you get lost eh?

Imagine all the outrage if Slaf was like "pfft, I don't care, I'm gonna be rich soon, it's just a 'game'"

People like you *are* the *reason* people have mental health issues
You disgust me honestly lol

Actually all you're doing is shitting on Heinemen when you could be shitting on a bunch of other players too.

What's very telling watching the first 2 games is we need to get bigger-nasty-er on the blue line......half of our D are not build for playoffs phisicality, you can live with Hutson beceause of his offensive talent but having Hutson-Matheson and Carrier on the first 2 pairing is asking for trouble.

"Oh it won't make that much of a difference so what's the point?".

Such a loser mentality. This series is tight. We need to take any improvement we can get - big or small.

You quotedou the wrong doude bro

PS: That's not Dou

We're right there competing. While it sucks that we lost twice, the games have been tight and exciting.

Our power play is so stagnant, though. There's one play: give it to Laine. But Laine can't shoot for shit right now, so unless we can score on the rush, we're not scoring. Something needs to change there so we can at least be dangerous.

Now idea how to ice a better roster, because it's not like our scratched players are game breakers.
Honestly think we are better with Demidov PP1 move the 6’5 Dunce to PP2, or bench him. The Pezz would be more effective without the puck than Laine
