You think the Hawks would be dumb to give him 13Mx8 if he'd actually sign that? Are you serious? That's 11% of a 115M cap. That's literally how much Toews and Kane signed for coming out of their ELCs, but those guys played on real teams with actual NHL players -- good NHL players at that.
Yes. I think giving Bedard 13x8 based on his play so far would be an overpay. But to echo @MTU34 it would be foolish to take an extension from his camp currently. As I also mentioned earlier.

I don't get people gungho about the cap. This years rise year, but accepting like this rise is solid and not on a fringe ready to drop like in 2016 is so possible. Especially after T&Ks 2015 deals were based on projected cap rising.

obviously Bedard needs an extention.

RFAs expiring next year :
Crevier
Kurashev
Kaiser
Soderblom
Raty
Soderstrom

RFA's possibly extended
Bedard
Nazar
Dach
Knight
Reichel
EDM

33,794,167 is the cap space available for the top 4+ signings and extentions if the cap stays at 88. add 7 million to that number if the cap goes up to the projected 95 million.

Vets expiring contracts

Maroon
Martinez
Donato
Athanasiou

I typed all this out then we picked up Shea Weber's contract... lol.

how much do you think everyone signs for? bridge contracts for all the expiring RFAs? Kurashev and Kaiser?

Donato should be a part of next year's team with him staying. Anyways, go big in free agency, and don't be reckless. Instead, add a measure of respectability to the roster so that the young incoming talent can elevate into something awesome.

Signing Marner or Rantanen is a short-sighted, rushed move. Bedard needs some help but the Hawks haven't entered their contention window and signing either of those players does little to open it. You really want to sign a 29-year-old Rantanen to 7 years at 15M per just to ensure Bedard has a premium linemate next year?
I think the high reward of signing Marner, which helps our franchise face (Bedard) develop as a player, is a good thing despite the risks carried by paying an elite player an elite player contract.

People severely overrate Crevier. If he is to play in the NHL, it’s as a third pair guy. Not first pair.

The three guys with the most ice time should be Vlasic, Murphy and an FA signing/trade and then Allan, Crevier, Del Mastro, Söderström, Korchinski and Kaiser can fight it out for the remaining three spots.

I don't think the roster will be much different next season. Maybe the team plays a bit better without Jones. They've been better recently without him. Maybe Knight being in goal helps settle a shaky defense.

We'll go looking for a big name or two, potentially bigger than Bert/Teuvo. Whether we get that or not, who knows.

Think Soderstrom has a chance at joining this roster. Have that right side be Murphy, Crevier, and Soderstrom for the season. Maybe call up Lev when Murphy hopefully is moved near next year's deadline. Maybe left side is Vlasic, Edmonton, Korchinski.

Things won't be great, but maybe some marginal improvements at spots.

Are we really ready to start exiting the rebuild?

D is looking good

Wing is easier to fill

Who are our 1C and 2C of the future? Bedard sure, but you have to admit there are some question marks with him sticking at C long term.

Would like to land a top shelf center with some size before we start make big splashes on wingers that don’t fit the timeline.

All you bums are really optimistic about John Chayka's pet 😭 😭 😭

He has 21 points in his last 19 games as a newly turned 24 year old in one of the best leagues in the world. Söderström has higher upside than any D in our system not named Vlasic, Korchinski, Levshunov and Rinzel so yeah fair to be a bit optimistic. If he were able to he probably would walk into our lineup tonight and be better or as good as EDM/Kaiser/Crevier.

I don't think he's necessarily better than EDM/Kaiser/Crevier/Allan (you didn't mention Allan, but he's sorta in that group). I think Soderstrom is probably more in that group, but as a righty on an NHL team that only has Murphy as an established RHD, he holds a better chance of playing here next season than a couple of those guys.

Some of you guys are completely unhinged as fans. Deep down, I really do respect your fanaticism, but when you are trying to pass it off as being based in rational thinking, it grows awfully tiresome quickly. I think I’m about done with anything other than the GDT today.

No first or second was offered according to Powers so stop lying.
I mean, That’s where you have to negotiate? GM’s aren’t gonna walk up to you offering exactly what you want lmao

Beauvillier got a second and I’m supposed to believe Donato wasn’t going to go for that? Yea rightttttt. Just sounds like KD exposing his lack of negotiation tactics and skill lol

Yeah that’s probably a fair assessment but I like to romanticize the sad experience of being a Blackhawks fan.

Therefore, Victor Söderström will be a Norris candidate next year!

Speaking it into existence.
