2025-26 NTDP U17 Team Selection

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Have you noticed Pape, at all? I was hoping he was going to make the team.

I did. Yes. He played okay. Let me say this, all of these kids look like they belong. Nobody looked lost or overmatched. I was pulling for him because I believe he's from Cleveland originally. He certainly could make the team but in the two practice games I watched he didn't star. He really impressed me when I've seen him with the Pens - so much so that I've asked about him on this board. I guess we'll find out in a week or two.

Also, I'm just some guy who loves hockey. I'm no scout. 😁

Saw the game on Friday. Lots of fun.

Blue team
Scuderi scored first goal. Typical Scuderi game, quick decisions. Aggressive. Good shot.
Milojevic - I can see why he's rank3d so highly. Good skater. Fast. Good puck control. Had the team's 2nd and 3rd goals.
Semetsis definitely belongs at this level. Great skater. Good decisions. Calm.
McArthur was solid on D.
Some kids I was unfamiliar with who impressed...
Timmerman from LC. I only saw the one game so far, but if he doesn't make the team I'll be surprised. Best D out there.
Kane Barch. Such a good skater. Quick. Aggressive. A little selfish at times but that's okay sometimes.
Thoreson - really impressed. Good skater. Big kid. Solid on O and D. I hear he was almost a 2010 by 2 days.
Freddy Schneider should make this team too.

Red team
Daley had a hattrick (eng). Worked really well with Meyer.
Grubb scored first goal.
Carson zScott had a goal
Pelosi was solid and really set up his teammates well. Had a few assists.
Never saw Finn Spehar before but I was impressed. Really fast. Small side.
Burcar is really impressive too. His skating is better than most and he has a good handle too.

Lots of kids playing even minutes so it was tough to stand out in one game. Some kids who I was excited to watch that didn't stand out...
Fitzhenry
Roscoe
Guttierez
Geiger
Sears
Pandolfo

The goalies played pretty well. Hard to pick one. I'd think Chizik is in and maybe Johnson.
Thank you for the breakdown @clevelandcane ! Not surprising, Scuderi is a waterbug, Semestis is such a USA hockey Dman - smooth, strong, excellent skater. Milo is a possession monster. Barch a huge addition if he chooses to go NTDP. Daley a given, first line minutes if he chooses NTDP. Grubb could be a sneaky contributor. Of your non-contributors, Fitzhenry, Gutierriez are the only locks. Would be surprised if Roscoe Sears dont make the team though. Also, Meyer is a spitting image of Matthew Tkachuk, but possibly better…

I wonder how the powers that be reconcile how a kid performs at camp vs how they perform with their team.

Crazy that Timmerman, MacArthur and Gutierrez all played d together on a Dallas team a few years ago.

I agree. Scuderi is my favorite in this class. It's a miss if he's not invited IMO.
It's nice you got up there for some of the games. I see you thought highly of Timmerman from LC. I watched their first four games from the OHL Cup throughout this week and he was really good, a few turnovers but was very consistent. Skates so well, applies pressure, can be a one man breakout and recovers on pucks as good as anyone without getting beat 1v1. Only had a toe pick where a guy beat him from Huron-Perth to score SH yesterday in a 1-0 loss for LC.

Curious if you saw some of the same at the camp the other week.

He was aggressive with the puck and not shy about joining the rush. I saw him get caught up ice a few tmes but nothing I would mind if I were a coach.

Honestly, he was the best overall D I saw the two games I watched. I'm familiar with some of the others because I've seen them play (D Gut, Semetsis, Roscoe) which biases me. Timmerman still stood out. Maybe it's the orange LC pants 😁

He's so solid with the puck and his decision making and a great skater.

I know the NTDP has tough choices but not picking this kid seems like a bad decision if that's what happens.

Lol, tell you what, you're right about those Caesar's pants & gloves. When I go to the Select 17 National Camp in Amherst those stick out the most. I think we've mentioned before how they might be the best jerseys / colors in youth hockey.
