He knows he won’t be a pro, wants to get life started
Yeah no problem with that can’t blame him especially if he is an over ager. I just hope for many of these players who are not going to be pro’s at any level make good academic decisions and don’t put themselves in the situation where they don’t have any security on their NCAA team or are taking degrees that don’t have value. Not everyone can be McKenna and take fly fishing courses. I really hope these players are getting good career counselling and not wasting their education packages

I agree. I think the Petes were the outlier. Zero for a backup. London shouldn’t have had a drop off but somehow Medvedev fell on his butt this year.

George should have been better and he, specifically, made me rethink my stance because had he charged ahead of the rest of the goalies in the league, it would have shown how good he is and there was a separation but he was under whelming compared to his stature.

Look strictly at Vaccari. He got run out of Kingston. Then look at Betts, another 17 years old that excelled. The league lacked shooters and it showed in the scoring leaders. No 100 point player? Crazy. No 50 goals scorer and only five with 40 (three of them actually at 40).

I didn’t think the league woudl feel the lack of top end talent missing but I was wrong. I think we can point directly at the 67’s regular season performance and understand that a team that works their butt off that has some skill can be successful in the regular season. And that is attributed to the lack of top end talent league wide. I think the playoff formula still remains though.

Martone and Romani as well as Mews, Spence, and L.Misa would have done some damage to OHL goalie stats for sure. But maybe somewhere around 100 added players including a half dozen starting calibre goalies has had a lot to do with less scoring. There is much greater depth across the league, I think.

I’m not smart enough to know and probably too old, but evidently Bentley is one of the top business schools in the USA

Yes it seems that way this year, that once things happen, they will happen fast and furious. Very excited to get things going!
Yeah sucks that the drafts just pushed back so far. Makes everything so scrambled in june. So many trades and signings will happen in anticipation of the draft and after it

The OHL trade window opens in a week, starting off a month of tangible stuff to discuss.

June 2nd - OHL Trade Window Opens
Players & Draft Picks Until June 11th @ 3pm
June 8th - U18 Priority Selection
Internet Draft @ 7pm
June 11th - Pre-Draft Trading Closes
June 12th - OHL Priority Selection Round one @ 7pm
June 13th - OHL Priority Selection Rounds 2-15 9am
June 15th - OHL Trading Windows Opens @ 9 am
Players & Draft Picks Until June 25th @ 3pm
June 30th - CHL Import Draft @ 11am

With 2010 born players eligible to be drafted in the CHL import draft, I would not be surprised if Mike Oke selects a 16yo skater with his 39th overall pick. There is an outside chance, depending on the cost of trading for an OA goalie, that he selects a high end goalie in the import draft but time will tell.

The relationship that the Petes have with the Red Bull Academy U18 team in Austria (and the Austrian league) makes me think some of these 16yo skaters could be options (pure spit-balling here):

matteo filippitsch......late birthday, big RH Dman with offensive skills; top scoring Dman for Austrian U16 team
roman funk........big LH Dman who played a game in the U20 league

niclas micelli.....big, power forward, played most of the season in the U20 league scoring more than 1 PPG
luca krizanovic.....big center, highest scorer in the U18 league
david bertignoll......a small Italian forward with great offensive numbers
maximilian spielmann.....late birthday, big center, one of top scorers for Austrian U16 team and in the U18 league
filippo ciresa......Italian RW who is a top 5 scorer in the U18 league; fun fact: his Dad played pro hockey in Italy for years and worked as the team manager for the U20 Italian team for 2 seasons when Tommy Purdeller played
simon sisik......a small Slovakian forward with great offensive numbers, played 2 games in U20 league

What about a high end goalie?

IMO, it will be tough for the Petes to target a 2007 born Import goalie that will be a top 10 goalie in the OHL right off the hop. Most good ones are already playing in the CHL or in high level leagues at home (especially in Sweden, Finland and Russia). The Petes’ best bet for an Import goalie IMO would be one of the guys who are ranked for the upcoming NHL draft.

The NHL draft is June 26-27th and CHL Import draft is June 30th.

*Names below are linked to their elite prospect page.

David Vermirovsky (G) 2008

Vladimir Proskurin (G) 2008

Martin Psohlavec (G) 2008

Matvei Karbainov (G) late 2007

Samuel Hrenak (G) 2008

Dmitri Ivchenko (G) 2008

Yegor Rybkin (G) 2008

Dmitri Borichev (G) 2008

william forsberg (G) 2007 (Swedish)
Ranked but not drafted in 2025 NHL draft, only played 15 games this past year

To solve the goalie problem, it's probably better to get an experienced OHL goalie so there is no adjustment issues.

Egorov moves to Erie for a relatively attainable package. The earlier discussion had his price at five high picks including at least one 2nd. I guess not…

I think Egorov would have been a great option for Peterborough. I wonder if the PEtes being in the same division made that deal impossible?

Doubt it why would Brantford care they aren’t going for it. I would say import draft maybe would be the best route for the Petes to go goalie wise

That is sort of my hidden point. I think he Petes are further along than Erie. They are the team in most dire need of a goalie (assuming the graduation of he who shall not be named).

I think you are accurate that another avenue is likely lined up or at least is relatively certain.

With rumours that Leenders is also traded to OS, that would be another OA goalie off the board.

Petes may not go OA goalie route now with news that Frazer is returning

jack good is a really good piece it’s like pete’s trading raynor as that same type of piece in that deal. would leave them with 3 2nds and 2 3rds with not a lot of 4-5-6 round picks. So if they got egorov they would have 1 good player worth of picks to add.
