Speculation: 2025-2026 Offseason Thread 4 - all these trades and all we got was this lousy thread!

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Regardless of a couple of rough playoff series, the improvement this year was very clear. You don't finish top 4 in both offense and defense and have your management then say, yep, blow it up because game 7 was a fluke loss.
Dude, our #1D and #1C are incapable of playing at the level a cup contending team needs. Unless we bring in high level players to supplement them, we have no shot.

Jtb parrot and distant thunder talk too much nonsense 🤣 stick to your middle six forwards and clutching your pearls of our advanced stats and expected goals that haven’t mattered for f*** all two post seasons in a row. Clowns 🤡

Hedman is older, but Point has had one actual bad season in the last forever it seems. There's little reason to think he's incapable of bouncing back to his usual self. If he can stay healthy, he should be fine.

Their recent performance says otherwise. Way safer bet they can't, than they can.
And still just an assumption that, besides being extremely unlikely given the overall makeup of the team and their overall progression this season ( and yes, playoff success is not guaranteed nor some end all in management making knee jerk reactions like 80% of this board has shouted about all summer) trying to force Tampa into a very unlikely narrative as far as their approach this offseason.

I think game 7 wasn't really the best representation of how that series really was. Oddly enough that game was our best from the series in some ways but offensively the entire series we were just not good at all. I feel like without that we arnt going to go very far. So far we're worse on defense on paper and we haven't done anything to improve our offense while there's not a ton out there for us. Hope I'm wrong because I like competing. I don't want to do a retool or rebuild. I don't want to go back to casual watching. I'd rather be pissed we lost than say oh well we're rebuilding...which I'm sure most people are too but sometimes you gotta go through the crap to be good again..

Not that Tampa has the pieces to acquire him unless he's forcing his way to the Bolts, but I'd guess if by some minute chance he did sign with Tampa, they'd pair him wuth Moser and just have Moser back to RD.
Moser might be part of the package going the other way. He didn't get a NMC did he?

Moser has a full ntc until summer of '30, then it becomes m-ntc.
That doesn’t kick in until July 1st though right?

If we were to trade Moser for Werenski we would just be putting more pressure on ourselves to win the cup because you’re basically screwing yourself out of any long term cap security

They had an offense that went cold, not an offense that is bad. More help from lines 3 and 4 as well may have helped take pressure off of the top lines. This is still more likely as to where JBB can add given space and potential assets, although a top 6 C such as Trocheck is still possible imo. The team had success before Raddysh had 60 good games, and they are certainly capable of being a top 5 to 10 defensive unit again after him.

The team is already very good and capable if contending. Good management doesn't start a re-build while still having a window to win because some fans have some belief that deep runs are guaranteed every year. JBB may make another big move next summer depending on how this season goes, but he's been re-tooling over the last 2-3 years, and while every move didn't work out in hindsight, the team still seems in a better place now than it was after either Florida loss. He has cap space to use, however he sees fit, and one way or the other, the team will have added to an already good group.

The re-build will happen eventually, but it's still a few years away imo. Many fans I talk to outside this board still enjoy watching the team all year, not just caring about the playoffs. As long as the team fills the seats,, make a lot of money for ownership, and putting a team on the ice that is good and, while no longer some massive favorite to win the cup perhaps, still capable of doing so, I find it very doubtful that management/ownership pull the plug and hope that it only takes 5 years in the cellar before Benchmark sees more than 50% attendance again and they might compete for anything.

Yeah, if puckpedia is correct. Moser's full ntc doesn't kick in until summer of '27. But yeah, unless Tampa was pretty confident they could extend Werenski, they'd only have 2 guaranteed years of him. However, if he wanted Tampa, the odds of him extending would seem higher.

Of course. But it's Werenski. I think you'd have to do it and then blow it up in a few years, which we're gonna have to do no matter what.

It's all a pipe dream, but i think you'd move Moser for 2 years of Werenski (with hopes of longer), because that's probably what we've got left of Kucherov's prime and the window.
