Goalies drafted in the first round is never a sexy pick see Cossa. Something must be up with mccivor
McIvor has been pretty vocal about wanting to win. If he doesn’t see NB as a true contender he could have asked for a trade. But maybe not too, besides CV32 we have no premium goalies in the system. There are some scouts who are really high on Loftus and maybe Adam and Johnny wanted their guy

I don't understand why we are taking so many defenseman when we have 9 signed and just lost our best six forwards. Kind of confusing to me

Depth balance. A lot of our playable depth are forwards (Kipfer, Perreira, Edwards, Maharaj (maybe). Plus add Hodgson and Brekelmans coming in for one year. On D outside of Poe and Brown we don’t have much. Konobelj could be good.

We’ve got a decent forward core

Brekelmans-Warren-Vaughan
Carey-Dubrovstev-Hodgson
Pronin-Laird(?)-Moses
Edward’s-Saulnier-Perreira

Ottenhof is probably going to be a good player. I think Saulnier is a very good pick

Fully expecting a major trade for a high end offensive piece over the summer, they’ve made it clear they want to go for it this year. Not sure what to think with taking the goalie at 11… there was rumblings of McIvor wanting out last year but his exit interview indicated otherwise. Pretty risky running an 09’ and a 10’ tandem in a competitive season. In Adam we trust

That lineup won't scare anyone. Certainly not a " go-for-it" group.

I agree, likely the same result as last year. Need an elite centre and LW. Not sold on D either. I like Greer as a 2nd pairing & pp2 guy but we could really use an elite puck moving 1st pairing RHD. Where that comes from I have no idea. We aren’t stacked with assets as a result of failing to trade our departing players and losing Cali…

I do think there’s more to come though

Loftus seems like a brilliant kid. Watch his YouTube interview with troops trio. Chess player, makes short films, plays the piano. Like listening to an interview with a 27 year old university graduate

What’s happening with Moses? Forgot about him. He getting traded at some point?

Have to? Maybe Moses, McIvor, some picks, and couple of warm bodies for a good LW and C to replace Cali & Pitre. Warren is not a L1 centre yet.
Karmiris should come cheap enough to be worth the injury risk?

Nice to see the Rivalry event restored to Sudbury vs NB. That is a match-up with history while the previous effort to try and make NB vs Barrie a thing was a flop. All we need now are some guys who can score goals.

What are the chances that Tanner Adams defects from the fish and the Troops end up trading for his rights rather than the Wolves?

My thoughts for this scenario are that a) North Bay and Sudbury are roughly the same distance from Timmins, b) the Troops have a history of trading for defected draft picks in picking up Ryder Cali from the Greyhounds two years ago, and c) Wolves management and fans might not have an appetite for big expensive trades like this after what happened with Mews.

My thought against this scenario is that from what I can tell, the Wolves have more draft capital than we do. For what our team is and where we are at, our draft cupboard isn't that full.

Odds are low. Sudbury is much closer by taking hwy 144.

NB doesn’t have a lot of key pieces to move outside of the core and if they did it’s probably more for win now guys. That being said nothing is ever zero

My understanding is that these draft pick defection trade deals have to be draft picks-only type of transitions, players cant be involved.

Some of the recent comparables are the deals for Malholtra and Dickinson

S.Porcupine is ~50 km closer to NB than Sudbury, and an easier drive?

Do any of these new picks have a shot at making the team this fall?
Loftus maybe, CV32 apparently hurt during the summer…

Saulnier will make it as this is supposed to be EP21 2.0. Probably 4th line center with some PK2 duties

Ottenhof could be a surprise, little bit of a Therrien type but a little less speed/puck skill. Good player overall and might be the most interesting watch
