Does Guelph have the assets to get him?
Just spitballing but I think Niagara would prefer McNally the big LHD selected 7th overall to pair with Lappan a big RHD selected 9th overall so as long as Roobroeck is okay with waiting until deadline(he might not be) that would work out for both teams.

If Roobroeck wants to be traded asap obviously will need a different package because McNally can’t be traded until jan1st

Mcnally can be traded in august? They just need to have him be treated like a defective pick

Do you see it being a picks only return, or a roster player included?
If he stays to play this season, then it'll would most likely be something similar to the Czata trade; at least 1 may 2 bodies and 2-3 early-mid picks with a few conditional mid/late picks.

If we're sure its going to be a team in the West and it ends up being for pure picks:

Erie, Saginaw and Owen Sound have the fullest cupboards. So I'd assume one of those 3 if it a pure picks deal.

Guelph - just cause they're hosting the Memorial cup but they may need to make more moves to get additional picks before I can see them bidding on RR. I'd guess they're waiting until closer to Jan to make an offer, once they see how the team shakes out during the season to see if they need another high scoring guy.

Sarnia and maybe Flint - possible but that would leave their cupboards thinner than they already are.

London, Windsor are all in rebuilds more or less, so they're probably not interested in a here and now player anymore. Unless they surprise us all....

Kitchener and Soo are tapped out so I'm sure we'll be seeing them dumping big names to try and refill their cupboards by January.

If we're looking at the East for a pure picks deal:

Ottawa, Kingston, Brampton, Oshawa and Sudbury have the biggest options ATM.

I think Everyone else in the east would need to make other moves before making a bid so they don't pull a Soo.

I think everyone may be playing the wait and see game with RR. My question is does his late birthday prevent him from being eligible playing in the AHL if he gets drafted in the first round? Since we know they're allowing 19 yr-olds to play if they are first round picks, does his late birthday affect his eligibility like it did for the NHL draft?

I've got a few other thoughts rolling around but that's why I'm just a fan and get to play theoretical GM.

hes not ahl ready, and probably not a 1st round pick

Agreed. The only 'inside' knowledge I'll ever claim to have is I talk to a lot of scouts. The consensus was Roobroeck had a top 10 NHL level shot in the draft, maybe top 5, and had good size. Aside from that, he's seen as lazy, an average skater at best, and no attention to defense.

Only way he goes late first round is a team with multiple firsts takes a gamble on that size and shot.

It rarely works out. Perlini was a great example.
