I doubt Tavares is on a 2022 TC roster let alone a 2025. Stone and stammer likely not on a 2025 roster either.
Chabot doesnt add anything to a TC roster. Buddy played against him in the Memorial Cup a few years back and said he was the softest d man in the corners he’d ever played against.
I agree with Bouchard though. Will be in his prime and his shot adds an element that could be very beneficial to a powerplay.

Parayko and Toews are older than you are looking for. I would consider Byram and Drysdale and hope that they can live up to their potential. Canadian production of defencemen has been disappointing for a while though.

Yes it is a problem. American defence man have a top 5 that I think is better then Canadian top 5 under 25

I agree. Player production overall hasn't been that strong in the last decade or more. Not at the standard Canada should expect anyway. Forwards have been best positionally, then defencemen, and goaltenders last.

I think it’s only in the last 3-5 years that Canada has been pumping out future defensman

Pasta left and quickly came back to the NHL for some more fat pay cheques, he has no problem with the league when it benefits him that's for sure.

And the NHL includes russian players. The same reason why the san jose sharks circled the wagons when it was made clear they wanted the Russian players not to be there for game in the Czech Republic is the same reason why they have to take into account whether to have this tournament too............there is Russian players in the NHL.

In fairness to Krejci.. he took a sweetheart deal to come back. He's making 1 mill and was carrying that offence at the start when Marchand was gone. He took a hometown discount though. He also did it for his kids and went to a mid pack Extraliga team for considerably less money to do that (eg. look at Plekanec's last 2 year deal in Montreal - he got paid!). Then took a discount to come back. That's all pure and sincere from where I am sitting. I'm also thrilled he's back and playing so well. Boston is now my B team after the Oil for obvious reasons.haha

Last time they blamed covid (it's funny that Krejci could go but an NHL player couldn't), this time the Russian's and the other 3 were 'reasons'. My point is that they have cancelled 5 in a row... one was because of Russians. I even included a quote from Bettman on his own website saying the owners don't want it.

I'd be more sympathetic to the NHL cancelling the 2024 world cup if the league hadn't f***ed up the 2016 tournament and then proceeded to skip the 2018 Olympics. 2020 was largely unavoidable and I do not blame the NHL for 2022 despite it working out exactly as the league wanted.
