With the status of our roster, much of the fan base is comfortable with us coming out of the 2025 draft with a late second round pick and a couple of 7ths. You can’t have draft picks “age in” to your roster if you don’t have any drafted players. But OK then. I rest my case.

Here's my main point, I'd welcome data which shows differently: When teams trade multiple assets for one player, and that player isn't a QB (Stafford), how often does the team trading those multiple assets for that one player, actually improve? Particularly when that one team is a "close, but not yet a SB winner type", like we are suggesting that we currently are? Thinking Bills, Ravens, Packers, Eagles, or really any of the recent playoff teams that have made this kind of move.

About being an entire roster away from beating Philly, I'll restate it: They are much better than us in every roster area, every position group, except QB. I get that QB is most important but they have a pretty good one also. Everywhere else, they are better than we are. Until that changes, we may just have to hope that Hurts gets hurt like he did when we beat them this year. We never beat Hurts this year and neither game was especially close.

You’re adding a lot of conditions. It’s not that complicated from my view. Are you saying teams that trade multiple picks for players, it never works out? Players never do well, they never are positive impacts to what they as individuals can impact on the team?

Because all I’m suggesting in a Myles Garrett add, is that he would perform well, and be an immediate star-type player insertion for at least 2-3 more years. He would impact that side of the ball like few others in the NFL could immediately.

They need to do a lot more work to win a Super Bowl, not denying that.

Lastly….take away Barkley and it’s a much more level IMO in terms of competitiveness. I’d bet on us without Barkley in the game.

I’d think next year’s 2nd-4th would be seen as more valuable given our tougher schedule and it being (statistically) unlikely we get back to the NFC Championship again.

So we can definitely spread out the pain and maybe even send out one of our $20 mil D tackles in the same trade.

Peters was not the GM in SF. And Trent Williams was an absolute fire sale. He was practically free, from the 49ers standpoint. A 5th round pick that year and a next years 3rd round pick. Hey if Cleveland wants to do that trade with us, sign me up all day long.

Wow, CMM was also traded for a pile of magic beans. A 2, 3, and 4 in the upcoming draft and a 5th the following year.


So yeah, sign me up for trading no first round picks to get All Pro players, would love that. But its unlikely Cleveland gives us such a gift.

I think that's kinda' comparing apples and jackhammers.

Cousins was drama because he was competent-to-good, and we hadn't even had that level of QB in forever. The money the market demanded that we (or anyone else) pay him was far beyond what it should have been for his level of player.

JD has already shown he's a QB at least 2 orders of magnitude better than KC -- and he's already won twice as many playoff games. He'll be one of the very QBs in the modern game who will be somewhere near the value of the contract he, ahem, commands.

Yeah, I’d agree with you but there are exceptions to every rule. The exception to this rule is trading for arguably the best defensive player in the league, probable HOFer still in his prime.

If Barkley was solely responsible for his success last year why did he only average 4.3 yards per carry over his six years with the Giants, then 5.8 with the Eagles?

SB is obviously much better than his backups, but he didn't do this nearly record breaking season on his own. His OL was by far #1 in the NFL across the board.

He was hurt a lot when he was a Giant and he was healthy all year in PHI. He also likes it there while NYG was dysfunctional with no passing game worth a shit to open things up for him.
