We definitely pissed this one away. BSJ was typically awful, Ertz's drops, slips and lack of field awareness killed us, as did more drops by the Brown twins, and a rookie mistake by a rookie to seal the game.

Our improvement was never going to be a straight line, and today was one of the inevitable dips.

On the bright side, after this performance, there's no way we should come with anything but total fire Thursday night.

This is our first real adversity this season, so let's see how we respond.

Ertz caught the ball at the marker and moved backward as he went to his knee. Then while on his knee he was touched. It was the right call and EXACTLY the type of thing Ertz has done multiple games this season. Drops, inability to turn and run, you name it. It just amazes me that Sinnot can’t get a few snaps each game. This was your guy, Peters. Does he suck so much that Ertz hurting us game after game is worth it?
You’re right about Ertz falling after every catch. I said this literally during the game. But that spot was dogshit. He was touched when the ball was at the 41. They were wrong by a yard bc the moronic line judge gave him a ludicrously bad spot and the officials were too chickenshit to reverse it.

Too much blame on Ertz. He has been really good for us this year in the aggregate. Could have done better on that play. If Sinnott was better he would be in.

We found a way to win the previous two games. Not this one. We seem to have a depth issue on defense because we give up a lot of yards and points in the second half every game.

Im still mad. We had a 10 pt lead and got 2 turnovers in the 2nd half. Its really hard to blow games with that

That's the Steelers. They always do this. They go for 3-3.5 quarters looking like they're on life support and about to fall apart, barely staying in the game, and then somehow they find a way to win in the 4th Quarter.

Way, way too much.

It's not just WFT on this one. It's a PIT thing, too.

In fairness Daniels missed a wide open Mccaferty as well. I don’t think he was at his accurate best either. But he sure doesn’t get help from his receivers.

Absolutely. I think his was his most inaccurate game yet, at least since the first. Just not as sharp as usual. But he gave his guys enough opportunities that they should have been able to win this game.

Everybody on that field today needs to step up their game come Thursday.

This too. He also gunned a few pass that it didn't seem he needed to but were still catchable.
I suspect he knows the Steelers force a lot of turnovers and wanted to make sure the ball got there quickly. But yes I noticed the same thing. Also thought on the pass Brown dropped on 3rd down he could have laid it up/put air under it. But that said if that’s AJ Brown or Deonte Smith it’s a catch.

Tough loss, especially coming up short by inches at the end... or maybe not, depending on how you feel about the spot.

Hanging with the Steelers is something, but you've got to put games like that away at some point.

Tough loss on a day the ball mostly bounced our way

Seems like we ran it to the right a lot

Wilson threw 2-3 game changing throws

Humbled and maybe needed
Seems to be pretty much a pattern every day that we cannot stop anyone in the 4th quarter. Sure maybe depth and fatigue are a factor but it feels like the secondary coverage also gets softer.

The other fascinating thing about our secondary that highlights just how bad they are is that they don’t bump and run, don’t play press coverage and STILL get beat deep. I mean opponents have so many options. I mean look at that last TD below, how absolutely horrible of a CB do you have to be to give up the TD on a fade?

The more important game is the one Thursday. Need to focus on that one. Hopefully Lattimore and Brob are healthy.

Would have been nice to take this one but oh well.

Its easy to forget this mess was 4-13 last year and had one of the worst defenses of all time. We're not SB contenders yet, but they hung tight in a playoff intensity type game. Massive progress so fast, but not all the way there yet.

They will get there, and when they finally do put it all together, this game isn't even close.

Whitt and DQ both want to play tight press coverage, but you need the corners who are capable of that. BSJ just isn't, despite his decent size. Lattimore is very good at it. Again, they can't fix everything in one offseason.
