Trouble is BSJ and Sainistril are ideally a 2 CB and Nickle being asked to be cover corners against future HOF receivers.

Giant holes at DB and Edge.

I’d say they are about 3 stars away from being formidable. An Edge, an LT, and a shut down CB.

Now those are 3 pretty big pieces. But I think Peters will figure it out.

Not this year obv (one never knows, would love to somehow get Surtain II from Denver. Reverse the Champ Bailey stigma), team has oodles of cap space).

If we are a 500% or playoffs team our pick will be 15-20. It gets harder to get a starter in that range. Good news is we have a rookie QB contract and tons of cap space and thats the cheat code in the NFL. We can go shopping or trade.

Well we didn't have to wait long for the "plan" to unfold as expected. A lot more reads, a lot more shots downfield, and just plain awesomeness from JD and company. Ekeler is RB1 and needs some quick recovery so he can get back in the lineup.

But let's not forget about Noah Brown. Only 3 receptions but they were big ones, iirc. You need guys like him and LMC making clutch catches to have a night like that.

The NFL game is already slow for him. Nothing knocks him off his game.

It was hard to tell if he was just a college gameplan product worthy of a top 5 pick that might flame out at first, but after even a few series in the preseason you could see who he really was outside of the college wrapper.

There were a few plays where I held my breath waiting for him to get up because he still has a little of that "throw my body around" RG3 thing that ruined his career. When the arms and legs go helicoptering all over the place, it's asking for the 2nd guy in to rip one off.

Please stay healthy, bro. You can thump your bible all you want if you play like that, but ffs go down easy when you're running because you're Jack Skellington in a really big helmet.

As for the defense, Luvu is the same beast he usually is. In on just about every play, moving around the field, and the only guy who consistently tackles as first man in. There is plenty of room for improvement and you can't score 38-40pts every week (can you?) so they're going to have to start eating up some of that improvement room quickly.

Gotta give Kingsbury credit, he was calling a slow offense for the first 2 weeks to ease him in and it looks like it built some serious confidence. He was throwing darts all night and connected on those deep balls. Im so excited for JD his release is so quick

You can always use more help at OL and no one besides Cosmi is such a star they can't be replaced but I've been really pleasantly surprised by the OL play so far. Biadasz especially looks great and Coleman had some nice reps last night.

If JD can keep it up, and Harris maintains this reputational upswing by improving facilities and amenities, DC will be a big-time destination for key players in short order. Stack that up with Peters drafting well and there's no reason we can't keep making big improvements year-to-year.

Humility is so crucial. Everything happening to him could so easily go straight to his head and puff up his ego to instantly-annoying levels. Thanking God and his O-Line first and foremost after the game? Smiling and laughing on the field with his teammates even at the toughest moments? The respect and devotion he has for his mother? Being the first to congratulate teammates when they're up, and pumping them up when they're down? The zero evidence we've seen so far of any egotistical or obnoxious behavior, womanizing, ...

Look, I'm not a believer myself. Just didn't grown up with it, never had an epiphanous moment of that kind. But I've always had a profound respect for faith because of the good things I've seen come from it. So many awful things have been done in the name of God, but lots of truly great things, too. Faith grounded in humility is often the exact type of compass that helps shape wonderful and successful people.

JD thus far has shown so much class and an extremely rare work ethic. And for someone as soft-spoken as he is to already have so many obvious leadership skills and charisma is similarly rare. If he credits God for any of that, let him. Griffin was this type of electrifying early on, too. But we also knew for sure that he was 100% douche -- RGMe through and through -- the first time someone stuck a mic in his face.

We won the lottery twice on JD being a great player AND seemingly a world-class man. I could criticize organized religion for days, but it's often a real guiding force for excellence and character.

He's in total control out there, for sure. When they zoom in on him between plays, I'm always impressed by what I see. He gets rattled and discombobulated from time to time, but most of the time he's composed, relaxed, in charge, and clearly having fun.

Let's hope the Harris regime can establish new luck with franchise talent, cuz our track record with the last few has been 100% tragic.

CB’s can be had in that range, and perhaps even OT’s. Last 5 drafts have had excellent starters in that range at almost all positions (save Edge maybe).

Anyway, you are correct re: cap space. I see the Skins adding 2 top players via that route. FA. Not sure where, but? And then at least one via the draft — plus a LOT of depth, which they seemingly did well with this past April. At least, so far.

I'm high on him. Not gonna shit on him for failing to do what nobody really does against Chase.

Dropping him into nickel to start, he ran zones with confidence and like he understood them. They didn't just start him with man situations. He was thrown in and I thought he treaded water really well. The things he's being tasked with now and without good safety support are a lot, though.


As suspected the OL looks way better when the team is running plays with short routes and actually being serious about run plays. EB never realizing that obvious truth should be heavily damaging to his career if he doesn't go into interviews and indicate he's learned from that.

On the CB front, I think Mikey S. is taking his lumps, but he's 3 games in and now playing in not his best position (outside.) He's learning, and hopefully they're able to get him back in the nickel/slot soon, where he's best.

I also think (OK, maybe "hope" is a better word) that they're breaking him in the same way they've been working with JD -- getting him a foundation before expanding his responsibilities/packages. We haven't yet seen him used as a blitzer, which was one of his strengths at UM. I'm also a Saints fan, and Alontae Taylor is a slot corner who they've really effectively used as a blitzer, and it's a real weapon.

It's a tricky proposition when your DBs are constantly shredded to take one of them out of coverage, but given the complete uselessness of our pass rush, it feels like something they really need to try.
