OT: 2024 Washington Commanders thread: change we can believe in!

17 is a great receiver but just doesn’t have breakaway speed after the catch. He’s quick but top end speed is above average. Would be nice to get a big receiver who can take those to the house. Someone like that with Maclauren would make us deadly.

Every time I watched SD they treated him like a situational receiving back who shouldn't be trusted with anything resembling power.

SD fans have long argued that their coaching staff misuses everyone and gets the least out of the roster and I can't say they look wrong now that this guy escaped. He's been a favorite guy to watch for a long time. Tuten at VT reminds me a lot of him, for future purposes

Thats one big reason they just traded for Lattimore. They really just lack talent in the secondary. Can't fix every hole in one year.
 
I still don’t think Whitt is a particularly clever d-coordinator. The type who makes his defense better than the sum of its parts. There’s a reason we don’t get many turnovers, not much disguised. Like that earlier 3rd and long dump off for a 1st down he blitzed 2 but could have disguised it and dropped one into coverage. Made it an easy conversion for the Steelers.

Guy is competent and that's an upgrade

That last one was right in his hands and didn't catch it before the db came in.

Also interestingly JD is really putting the heat on some of the passes that normally he would throw with a bit more touch.

They're 15th in the league in points against. Last year they were dead last, by a massive amount. WTH do you expect in one year?

I’m not sure about this take. We have adjusted after a couple of bad games to start the season. The issue is the secondary. We traded for someone not playing today. But seconary is definitely the weak spot.

Good stop there though!
