"What [Dan] Quinn said on Thursday morning was really clarifying. We want this guy to be third-down, two minute, he is adding to our stable of pass-rushers. And if that's the goal, okay, that seems smart because I saw him try to set an edge on Thursday as a full-time defensive end, and boy did that not go great. I think the problem right now is he's not getting any reps at linebacker. He is an edge full-time right now. I think Jamin Davis could be in a little bit of trouble here because it's not like they're practicing him at linebacker and saying in special situations you'll be here. They're trying to convert him to an edge and I don't know if it's going as well as it needs to for him to make this team. Now if he's a dog on special teams and can be a pass-rusher, those are two valuable things. So I'm not saying he's dead in the water after a couple days practice, but I do think it is worth watching and I definitely do not think his spot is safe."

yeah I also heard Jamin is on the ropes. Sad but the kid is whelming so far and the whole speeding down Loco Park way doesn't help

Among all Quinn has on his plate are the reclamation projects of Ron's shoddy af draft day choices.

Its not just Jamin and Forbes that need to be saved. Martin looks saved, and St Juste is one that I think will do better. His entire career has been run but what I contend is the leagues worst coaching duo controlling the defense, Ron and JDR. I won't include nor mention the fluky high school coach that was our DB coach. All despite spending so many top picks on D...

Of all the picks last year? The offensive side of the ball got 50 carries from CRod. That's it. Spent a 3rd on Stromberg... who looks like a 3rd stringer as we had to bring in Badazz. Braeden Daniels... 3rd stringer.

Last year's draft was a ****ing disaster, even by RR standards. Even at the time it was clear that both OLs were drafted at least 1 round too early (and in BD's case, 2 or 3). Not that an ESPN pre-camp final projection is gospel, but the WFT version didn't have B Daniels on the final roster, nor was he even mentioned as a possibility. Though I will admit that one pick I hated at the time -- Martin, the second DB in a row -- might end up being something.

As for Jamin, that pick was screwed 7 ways from Sunday. Picking an OLB to be your day 1 MLB when he's never played a snap there in his life, then trying to force the fit.

It's not Jamin's fault he was a botched pick, and it's not Daniels's fault we were stupid enough to draft him at all, much less where we did. But if they can't show they belong, they'll be gone. This staff and FO will thankfully have no qualms about dumping pieces that don't fit. And these are just 2 examples -- I'm looking forward to purging all remnants of the previous incompetent regime.

Preach. Jamin only had like 10 games starting in Kentucky and apparently wasn't a full time player. Huge reach and is ready to bust proper. Not bust out, as they in desperation try to make him into a pass rushing specialist. Micah Parsons Lite.

The thing is, he was showing some promise as a WLB last year, but the new staff is moving him to EDGE exclusively now, which will set him back even further. He might have had a chance to develop into a decent weak side LB, but now it looks like they'll give up on him either way.

I know he graded above average at PFF the last 2 years, but he has never met my eye test. And sadly, players are held to their expectations based on draft position. I remember 2 seasons ago seeing backs breaking tackles on him and the odd athletic play just isn't enough for me. i think brass made it clear they dont like him at LB which kinda reaffirms what I saw. Bringing in backers and moving him to DE says it all.

He's an under achiever that needed to develop and he seems like he plateaued. If true, a position change is low risk, short of gaining a ton of weight with Forbes this offseason.

Coaches seem high on Magee which doesn't bode well for him.

Some take-aways from WaPo training camp coverage of today:

1. “That s--- is money!” This was the first time the Commanders’ draft-night vision for Daniels — a dual-threat QB and deep-ball maestro — burst into reality. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury schemed up vertical shots, and Daniels hit several of them, including a pair to McLaurin.
“I’m telling you: That s--- is money!” McLaurin screamed after hauling in a 40-ish-yard pass.
Later, on fourth and medium, Daniels rolled right, away from pressure, and found Dotson for a toe-tap conversion. Defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. shook his head, grinned and dapped up Daniels.
Dotson was so inspired by the offense that, among other ambitious claims, he called fellow wide receiver Terry McLaurin the “best go-ball player in freakin’ NFL history.”
Maybe hyperbolic, but representative of the excitement.
“With him, anything is possible,” Dotson said of Daniels, adding, “Me and Terry were just talking about it on the sideline. [Daniels is] putting the ball in places where it makes our job so much more easier … where only you can get it and the defender has no play on it. You truly got to cherish stuff like that and be thankful for it because not everyone can do that. He’s a special talent.”
2. The offensive line competition is on. Coach Dan Quinn — in his most definitive comments of camp — said the only two locked-in starters on the line are right guard Sam Cosmi and center Tyler Biadasz, the former Dallas Cowboy signed to a three-year deal this offseason.
He said left guard Nick Allegretti (signed from the Kansas City Chiefs) is “almost there,” though he’s still sharing reps with veteran Michael Deiter. The glaring omission is right tackle Andrew Wylie, who returned to practice Sunday from what he called “tightness.” The team has rotated four players through first-team right and left tackle, roughly equally between veteran Cornelius Lucas, rookie Brandon Coleman and Wylie (when healthy) and then given a few reps to journeyman Trent Scott. It’s likely two of those four will start at the tackle spots in Week 1.
5. Vertical threats. A different wide receiver scrapping for a roster spot pops each practice, and Tuesday was for Brycen Tremayne, a 2023 undrafted free agent who seems like a long shot to make the roster even though he’s nearly always the first player on the field and is the only receiver taller than 6-foot-1 (he’s 6-4, 212 pounds).
The best argument to keep Tremayne and Dyami Brown, who’s taking nearly every snap with the first team but remains on the roster bubble, is that they’re vertical threats who can help Kingsbury and Daniels keep the deep-ball vision alive.

I read that last one as, "If Dyami Brown can't make hay w/ Daniels, he's gone."
