We have by far the best goalie this team has ever seen, past or present, one of the best goalies of this generation and the only thing people can do is blame him for everything, He deserves just as much blame as everyone else on the ice that let the Avs get an average of 36 shots a game.
This team is WC at best without him.
Too bad he can't figure it out post season , not just this year either

Deserved win. The only thing with him is he and the team need to figure out his workload for the regular season. He's not a young player any longer and he's fallen flat each of the last two playoffs. Take off another 5 plus games and I think he's more fresh in the post season. It did wonders for Bob in Florida.

Who was the one GM who didn't give Hellebuyck a 1st place vote? Zito? (Since Bobrovsky got the only other 1st place vote).

Exactly, people are weighing his last two appearances too heavily. He's shown he can be elite in the playoffs as well.
The past means nothing in sports, it's what have you done for me latley and lately he hasn't been good in the PO's!

He was great in 17-18, great against Edmonton. Other than that mid to one of the worst GA showings of all time.

Maybe Chevy didn't want to vote for his own guy? Maybe it's considered bad form to do so?

It's almost as if goaltending performance is highly influenced by luck over small sample sizes and you can't make an assessment based on one playoff series.

@sipowicz

Your thoughts?
Was the awards ceremony televised in the US? I must have missed that.
But if televised, I’m glad Helle got to go on stage (you know, the traditional way) to accept his award, unlike Covid Vezina, which really sucked for all the winners.
Congratulations to Helle!

Eta: I just saw a clip online of his acceptance speech. I have no comment on that since it’s the usual stuff you hear…but I came here to say that you think Helle could afford a suit that fits!

Chevy could go down as the GM who messed up the best years of the best goalie the Jets (1.0 or 2.0) have ever had.

Did he wait too long to move on from Wheeler or rebuild the D once Trouba, Buff, Chiarot, and Myers left? History will say, Yes.

Now if Yager or Lambert turns into a solid #2C and Salomonsson turns into a solid top4 dman, all might not be lost. But the Jets may have only 3-4 yrs of really strong goalie play to do some playoff damage.

I think the boys can still do it. Like you mentioned hitting on Brad/Yager/Elias would be a big boost.

They have the best goalie in the league, they were the best defensive team in the league last season, and have a couple 40 goal scorers. With a bit of luck thats enough to take home a cup.

One thing that worries me is if Arniel flops - can't see Chipman signing off on shitcanning him until Helle starts to decline. Just have to hope that Arnie is the man who can put all of the pieces together

For me it's not even the numbers. It's the way he's looked in the playoffs.

Bad rebounds poor reads bad positioning. Of course some of that is a result of breakdowns in front of him but players notice when their goalie is struggling, or in the zone, and it can affect their play as well.
