Of course the two Vogelbach baserunning plays end up being the difference. Dumb mistake in the 7th and not pinch running for him in the 9th (I guess PR = no Biggio hit, but I still choose to be mad lol)

At least we forced them to use some good RP

Right? How the f*** do not pinch run for him? Hell, put in a pitcher to run. No one can be slower.

Joke of a manager. Should have been fired after the playoff collapse.

I'd give him a pass, for this outing he had the setback in spring training so could take him a bit longer to get going.

I'm more concerned about Bassitt thru 2 starts.
I get that but his last outing was really good. His velo was really down. Seems like he may be destined for a dl stint

I said last year I wouldn’t watch a game until he was fired. Theirs is zero reason for him to still have a job.

It's crazy that the top three hitters in our lineup are all sub .200 and the amount of guys sub .200 and even sub .100 is concerning. It's early and those numbers can adjust quicker at this time of year but this season will go sideways real fast if they don't fix it. Might be time to put Bo back to where he likes hitting.

Happened before last year, I’d expect him to bounce back. In fact, I looked through his game logs from 2023 and his average FB velo dipped below 93 a few times, including a start where he went 7 shutout innings against the Yankees on April 23, 2023.

Did he have a similar start where he missed spring though? I don’t remember. That’s my concern is that he didn’t built up enough but his first start was so good. Hopefully, it was just one of those days

Siddall talking sense about pitcher injuries and the PA's taking issue with the pitch clock. The skyrocketing rates of TJ pre-date the clock, but somewhat away from his point it also pre-dates the revolution (pun intended) of spin rate and the rise of analytics. TJ rates have grown all the way back into the 90s. Max effort and rising velocity has been a thing for years and years and years and it's just now that in the massive raft of injuries and TJ that have occurred that it's happened to a bunch of prominent guys all at once. Singling out the pitch clock is focusing on one tiny micro issue (that isn't much of an issue) to the exclusion of everything else that has much greater impact.

I will say in some deference to Siddall's broader point that the ability to measure spin rate now has probably accelerated things a little bit compared to previously, but I don't want to see this turn into another "math nerds who didn't play are ruining the game" reckoning when this was already happening back in the days before anyone had heard of Moneyball.

Gil has always had control issues. Just step into the box and don't swing at all

Jk, Angel will still call everything a strike.
