Gaudreau isn't the best forechecker but tell me one US player who was in this game.

It's like the Czechs were like "we're going to make a wall and make you dump and chase" and the Americans were like "god dammit please don't make us play that way, we didn't fly over here to play like that". They had no timing on the dump ins, forwards not getting there on time.

By god that's John Hynes's music

What a surprise.

Please for the love of god let this be the last of Hynes.

At least they got to bowl together instead of practicing.
I always go back to why 1996 was a success for the US. They had a camp together, time to find some chemistry and work on being a team.

And yah, as we all know, some recent horrific coaching choices. And I dont see USA hockey making any changes. Also pointed out.

Now officially 7 gp, 0 g, 2 a. 1-4 in Quarterfinals playing Top Line what feels like every 'effin year. If USA picks this guy it shows they care more about participation ribbons than actually stepping up.

Yeah, if they want to say showing up to WC matters, it should be the case that showing up and WINNING is what matters. Not just coming around to finish 5th or 6th.
Don't bring anyone who has played here before, that will solve it...

Now, now. I didn't say showing up and losing means you get negative points, just that you only get positive points for showing up and winning.

Boldy for sure should be picked. Gaudreau, no. He never plays well in important games even though he gets his 5 point games against Kazakhstan or whatever.

There was more than enough raw talent to score against the Czechs. They looked really disjointed though, not a ton of puck support, no 5 man units, and honestly looked a little disinterested.

That being said, only lost by a very lucky goal, that’s what happens in these single game eliminations. Coming up against the home team, who just loaded up. Luck matters, US didn’t have it today.

The problem is much bigger than the players who do or don't accept. Of course that doesn't help, but plenty of far, far less talented WC teams than ones we've sent have continually won this tournament.

There is a rot at the core of USAH that starts with the management staff and the coaching. They need to clean house and completely overhaul their approach to the senior national team. They should all be gone, and retread garbage coaches like Hynes and Quinn should never be contacted again.
They could probably win one of these years if they were a bit more unorthodox and creative with selections even though it would probably mean mixing in hard forechecking AHL players amongst nifty little NHL guys, instead of just bringing whomever accepts. But one thing USA Hockey is not is creative.

we feasted on garbage like some of us were worried about...looked blah against top competition, didn't have a real challenge in 10 days and the coaching staff never really seemed to get these guys motivated to crash the net, play with urgency and roll with your top 9 and 4 down the stretch...I feel bad for some of the guys here, but this was inexcusable to be shut out like this...

I saw next to no secondary chances, barely anyone buzzing the net besides Tkachuk - Farabee finally did late in the game...just everything was soft perimeter play because they thought they could out skate these guys...we didn't.

“I thought we left it all out on the ice and I’m proud of our effort” said John Hynes (Warwick, R.I.), head coach of the 2024 U.S. Men’s National Team. “It was a great hockey game and terrific atmosphere. Unfortunately, we came up short, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort.”

Lindgren played really well. Our defense played well. The entire forward group just tossed shit to the net and nobody really fought hard for secondary chances. They got a fluke goal, no doubt about it, but outside of Lindgren and the defense that did play strong, I am not seeing that effort. I saw almost an entire group of passengers waiting for someone to take charge/the lead...Boldy and Nelson looked bad out there for much of the game. Pinto was near invisible. Tkachuk was always involved with theatrics which took him off his game and out of the play most chances...those were our top bigger guys...none of them brought their A game tonight.

f*** off Hynes..

We typical lose these tournaments based off of 1 or a combo of 3 things:
1. Goaltending
2. Coaching
3. Can't adapt to the refs here/stay out of the box

#1. wasn't the issue at all today.
#3 wasn't an issue at all today.
#2 yet again seems to be one of the core causes of this team not being prepared for this environment nor being able to change up their approach throughout the entire damn game when it was clear to all, nothing was really working with generating solid chances and secondary pressure...

Thompson has a health issue with his wife. Larkin had health issues.
They both said they were coming. Thompson declined because he got an ouchie in the last game of the season and 2 weeks off prior to playing wasn't going to be good enough.

Larkin as well, accepted then declined. But I am sure neither have been golfing or whatever this entire time. Larkin has come plenty before so I really am not mad about him..but he is the type of player this team desperately needed and missed.

F*** you John Hynes. Literally David Quinn 2.0.

If crashing out of this WC with arguably one of the most talented roster in years means never having to see you anywhere near USAH again then fine by me. Not allowed on the flight back home. Banned for life you piece of garbage.
