Thank you Augustine for standing tall as Sweden came out with a lift from their fans. Perreault and the BC line are awake.

Overall a good start. Team looks composed and playing their game for the most part. Tough atmosphere but the kids don't look rattled at all. Like Bonney said we desperately need Nazar's line to step up offensively today. They are doing great defensively but need that spark from them...

Excellent first period. When you're playing against Sweden in Sweden in the gold medal game, if you weather the storm in the 1st period and come out even it's a big win. To come out of it with a 1-0 lead and carrying all the play in the second half is a huge win.

Augustine was calm and steady in the opening 10, which was huge when Sweden was pushing with the crowd behind him. No one on the team wants revenge more today than Augustine.

Hutson's best 20 minutes of the tournament. Excellent defensive leverage, puck battles, and stick positioning. Keep that up.

Smith was so dangerous during that period. What a dynamite pass. The BC line has been up and down (not unexpected given they're all 18) but it always feels like they can generate something when needed.

It would be sweet for team go up 2-0. Then Sweden would really have to open up the game. Advantage to the US.

Most off the 1st period Sweden took away every passing lane. Sticks were everywhere.

Our big 3 D were all excellent that period. Hutson's best period, Chesley was solid, Casey dynamic and smooth.

The Nazar line is backchecking like their lives depend on it today. Love that.

Oh, Augustine. Can't keep leaving your five-hole wide open on point shots. Over-extended there turning what should have been a routine save into a goal.

Fortescue made that clear out on the Howard goal but he's struggling today dealing with the intensity

Rough to give up a goal with 5 seconds left. Swedes were on the verge of unraveling and instead that gets them right back into it.

More back-and-forth period than the 1st as both teams had good and bad stretches of play in the 2nd.

In too many tournaments, the problem has been that we get stuck in our own zone. Today it has been a little better, but something that should be taken into account for the future.

It's been great to see Howard play a great tournament. High end talent who has been written off many times by many.

Unfortunately joke penalty made things much more difficult.
