overseas...
Intresting to see what happens with Laine. If those latest battles against he’s inner demons didnt man him up, he is done in NHL level. Following hes career all the way from juniors here in Finland, problems he had so far in NA does not surprise me at all. Streaky pp specialist, one dimensional and moody as f. When things not go like he wants, house of cards is a falling apart. Big part of our fan base hated Drouin, so you guys need to pray that our management will keep their hands off from Laine.

In a Barred Spiral
These are my thoughts as well.

The most important day was June 28th and they came out with two very skilled players.

For where the franchise is in competitive cycle, unless they could have added Kane for 1-2 years or Stamkos on a very short term deal, there was nothing that actually helped the team go forward without risking another poor contract. A poor contract, mind you, that would have started being poor at the same time we'd finally rid ourselves of Gallagher and Anderson. I do question the sanity of those that wanted the team to splurge for these middling players.
Yeah I wouldn't have signed anybody either. I'd expect more trades.

The only contract given today that could have made sense is maybe David Perron. Even then, 4 millions is a bit much. I'm very happy KH didn't participate in that craziness. Now, let's help a team that wants to dump a salary

Nah, too much.

Team needs to be soft.

On a more serious boat, both Hughes and Gorton have said the Habs want to take another step forward. Not necessarily playoffs, but be somewhat competitive, so they must have a/multiple trades lined up because a full season of Dach isn't going to make up that difference especially considering teams below you got better and you didn't.

CLb is the only eastern team below MTL.

Majority of the East has kicked deck chairs outside of Washington. Whether that makes them better, who knows

I get people want out of a rebuild but today, with who is on the market, isnt that day

Lots of time to shuffle the bottom 6

Has to be the real WTF deal of free agency.
That and the Zadorov deal... If Eddy stays remotely healthy, his deal could look like a steal compared to Z's contract. Very similar impact & age, health & recency bias are the only real difference

Free agency just started and management has 3 months to make trades or sign a free agent at a bargain deal that wasn't able to get a deal during the 1st few days of free agency.

The Teravainen contract is great imo.

Yeah I knew we wouldn't do anything. I'm just not sure how this roster will look drastically different than training camp which Engels was so certain about. I will say though, there's pretty much no excuse not to sign a guy like Carrick. The guy makes less than Raphael Harvey Laval and can actually be consistent in his role. The bottom 6 is painfully soft, we are going to get bullied again. Not that we could have dumped any of them besides Evans, but adding at least one of Carrick/Trenin/Duhaime would have helped in that department. Guess we will wait and see if Hughes does anything about it in another area, but I'm not too happy about not signing someone like that already.

We will be battling against Buffalo and Ottawa for the last spot in the east i feel like again this season

Unless they get hot early in the season, there’s no doubt we will be at the bottom again.

The division is really competitive. They ended up last by two points, but had a crazy amount of points in OT, top of the league.

In ROW they are 6 wins away from Ottawa. Can’t expect everything to be the same again, but I guess injuries could change the story a bit in the hierarchy of the Atlantic.

Ya, no.

Bergevin acquired Drouin to lead the charge, which was a straight up mistake.
If the Habs pick up Laine it's to give a dry run to their top6, while the goal isn't to be world beater next season, the team still want more than one decent line.

This is true. The bottom 6 needs more toughness.

why would he waste of time.. go to the cabin KH
- kovacevic trade
- ufa signing today for laval
- slaf/ghule extension
- attempt/non-attempt at ufa todays
- plans for the summer (active on the trade market?)
- invite at rookie development camp?

of course we will mostly get vague answer, but this should be the topics of the day.
