If they sign Fried then Bassit gets traded imo.

Berrios
Fried
Gausman
Francis
YRod/Bloss

The starter getting posted from Japan will be going to the Dodgers.

Did they finish 2nd with Gausman, Bassitt, Ryu and Springer?
Well its different when we have a large payroll of veterans like Gausman, Bassit, and Springer still on the roster. We are not going to spend $300 million on payroll so I fail to see how we are landing a big FA on top of extending Guerrero.

I was more pointing out the fact that agents use Toronto as a mystery team every offseason so we are always connected to "everyone" and the fans eat that shit up like candy and get mad when the unrealistic doesnt happen (like Soto signing in Toronto)

How can he say in one breath they have roughly 25M to spend and then in another say there top target is max fried? If they signed fried they’d have no money left to do anything else…. Which is it?
Unless I'm blanking on the name, but is the Walker they are talking about Christian Walker? Walker + Fried is going to cost a lot more than 25m.

Your point is valid, they don’t have a limitless budget. However, Vlad signing shouldn’t have too much bearing though, given he’s already making a ton through arbitration this year. It’s more the future commitment, and Bassett only has a year left, among other contracts coming off the books.

I think they want to sign Fried to push Rodriguez into the bullpen.

Bloss could make Bassitt expendable but I don’t think they start the season with Bloss as the #5 starter.

We should be looking into trading for more IFA pool slots from other clubs if he's not just a free agent then. The more we can offer the better.

Taken from Trade Rumors site

In April, Baseball America’s Ben Badler published a list of teams’ bonus allotments for the ’25 signing period. The Reds, Tigers, Marlins, Brewers, Twins, A’s, Mariners and Rays have the largest pools at $7.5555MM each. If one of those teams acquired another 75% via trade and devoted the entire allotment to Sasaki, his maximum signing bonus would be around $13.22MM.

Considering how salaries seem to be escalating 300 million salaries for teams might be the norm soon enough. Might be good idea to lockup some guys now before the salaries go even higher. I mean who thought Soto was getting 600 million even a year ago?

I have no optimism for Sasaki. Not because i'm a doomer, but because the Dodgers have built the perfect machine to recruit players from Japan.

They got Shohei. They got Yamamoto, who can now sell all incoming Japanese imports on how great and welcoming the organization is. Not to mention the temptation of signing with a ready made world championship contender that will no doubt be better in 2025 when they're all healthy again.

They're going to get him. And then they'll probably make a legit pitch for another Japanese phenom in Munetaka Murakami when his NPB deal is up at the end of 2025.

It's both impressive and admirable because it's not like there's zero risk on the Dodgers side either. Sure these guys dominate their home league but there's no guarantee that carries over.

Blue Jays should lead their presentations to international free agents (e.g. Sasaki) by pointing out they're the only MLB city you can live in (and potentially raise your kids in) without Trump as your president.
If this is really a big concern for people, this will be an advantage for all of anywhere from 6-11 months depending on when the Federal election happens here.

Because the guy primed to win is just a discount version of the guy people might be afraid of.

Don’t be surprised to see the Dodgers spend more money. They made a TON!!! Of money this season with Ohtani. Bunch of sponsorships from Japan, jersey sales, that contract as crazy as it seemed at first is already looking like a steal. Even after winning the title they could easily spend another 300-400 million on their roster without blinking. Will they do it probably not, but they made over a billion dollars this past year. They will get that Japanese pitcher and maybe Blake Snell. They could probably go get Soto too

If it didnt happen in 2016 it wont happen now. Everyone talks a lot of mad shit but in the end money talks.
