4 weeks in and Nix is giving Christian Ponder vibes
Wonder if that convinces other QB prospects to remain in college to get more reps? Or we chalk it up to pure ability. He was basically a 4.5 year starter (only half season in the Pac12 in 2020) due to Covid rules.Daniels looks so good. The skill is obvious but he also just seems very composed and is getting more and more confident.
I doubt it. If you know you're going to be a top ten pick, you almost have to go to the NFL. Look at Trey Lance. Coming out too early probably tanked his NFL career, but it also guaranteed him generational wealth all from one contract ($34 million).Wonder if that convinces other QB prospects to remain in college to get more reps? Each situation is going to be different. For JJ McCarthy, major changes in the coaching staff after Harbaugh left, so his year in 2024 wasn't going to be as good as 2023. Maye could have returned to the same HC and OC at UNC.

If you stay in school another year you face two serious risks: injury or having a bad season to see your stock fall. If either one drops you out of a top ten draft slot, you gambled and lost many millions. The NIL money isn't making up this loss.
Matt Barkley is classic example of someone who lost so much by staying
Pretty sure Barkley would have been picked apart during the draft evaluation process.Matt Barkley was a trash QB - - hopelessly undersized, ZERO scrambling aniline a mediocre arm.
Being on a loaded USC team fooled novice fans and casual observers into think the was a great prospect.
But anyone who actually watched the games knew Barkley was terrible.

Risk and reward. Teams are much more willing due to the lower cash investment in a QB via the draft that if you don’t flash something in the first 2 and a half years teams will make up their minds and be ready to move off you.
Daniels is incredible. I mentioned it in the other thread too but he might throw the prettiest deep ball since prime Russ. Not best per say but just the prettiest with that arc and landing softly in the receiver's hands in stride. It's a beauty.
I only saw highlights of Caleb but it appears he had a great day as well. Some impressive throws on those highlights and the boxscore looks good.
Rough start but no path is linear. Showing great progress for a few weeks now. Can live with the mistakes, but i feel good about him putting it together.Caleb Williams week 6
23/29
226 yds
4 TD's
1 INT
4 Rushes for 56 yds
Outside of the pick he was great. That pick was horrendous though and needs to never happen again
