the team i fell in love with as a child growing up on the east coast is no more

i was too young to experience 89, and there was a lot more heartbreak than tears of joy, but i'll always have so many fond memories of the oakland A's to look back on. as someone who only attended a handful of games at the coliseum over the years, i feel more for the passionate fans who showed up to the ballpark to support the A's throughout the years despite ownership not caring about putting a winning product on the field and the coliseum being a dump (a soulful dump though.)

that's why A's fans are some of the most passionate fans in all of baseball. it really didn't have to end like this, but MLB did not want oakland to have a team and they made sure of it. the A's will eventually become stuck in sacramento after vegas falls through because of fisher's cheap ass, and they'll do what they should've done in the first place: force him to sell the team. MLB really could not have handled this entire thing worse even if they had tried. i'll still follow the game i've always loved here and there, but it certainly won't be the same

f*** john fisher
f*** rob manfred

and f*** justin verlander too

The Mariners starting staff needs to go on strike. I can't remember the last time that I saw a starting rotation that good not pitch in October.

So we basically know the 4 teams who are going to host the Wild card games.

Brewers (confirmed as NL Division winner 3)
Astros (confirmed as AL Division winner 3)
Orioles (97% chance, unless KC sweeps Red Sox and Orioles swept by Twins)
Padres (97% chance unless they are swept by Dbacks)

The 6 teams in AL are all but set, unless Minneosta sweeps Orioles and one of Det/KC gets swept in their final series (against white sox and red sox respectively). Would take a minor miracle.

In the NL, the last spot most likely comes down to what happens on the doubleheader Monday between the Mets and Braves. Might come right down to the wire.

Yankees, Indians and Dodgers and Phillies get 1st round bye. The #1 seed in each league still up for grabs.

A catastrophic 1st inning for the Mets. Hoskins, their nemesis, with a grand slam off Manaea.

Meanwhile, the Braves are up 2-0 against KC.

The team that never loses is about to clinch its playoff spot in Motown.

And the Angels now have sole possession of baseball's longest playoff drought.

I honestly had no idea the Tigers had the longest drought. Expanded playoffs helps but goes to show how much parity is in the baseball.

Detroit had less than a 1% chance of making the playoffs on August 1st. As of now, they have a chance to be the second wild card in the AL.

It doesn't make a difference. Just crazy that they could go reach that point from where they were.

I’m dumb and little tipsy, disregard…i mean it obviously matters in terms of who they play in WC itself, lol.

But they aren't gonna try and win/lose just to choose between astros/orioles of course. they'll just try and be as hot as they can going into the playoffs without overstressing anyone in the last 2 games against shitty white sox.
