Maybe for you there isn't. I'm being entertained watching Maye and Gonzalez develop and the close games keep me interested enough to see how it ends.
Think you're misreading the post. I'm watching the games. I'm watching to see how players are progressing and to see if they might have a shot to make some noise next season. So far I've seen them lose just about every close game they have had. I don't see that as I good thing. Ideally the best case scenario is they continue to grow and get better as the season goes on and win some games down the stretch. Not continue to stink and blow games.

But yet people for the last several weeks pop on the thread at the end of the game and go "nice, better draft pick" or "tank is on" or whatever stupid cliche they want to throw out. I just think it's extremely misguided and simplistic way to look at things. This team has no idea how to win close games and people are rooting that on like it's a good thing when they blow a close game. My god how far we have fallen in the last 5 years!

We all thought going into this season we may have the coach and QB locked down again. It does look good for the QB but does anyone think Mayo at this point is the long term solution unless something drastically changes?

This team might literally ONLY have the QB. Everyone else could more or less go this off season and I wouldn't bat an eye. Outside of Gonzales and maybe Douglass or Henry (and that's simply for Maye's sake)

A coach is only as good as the players he has.
We have lots of holes to fill, especially on defense.
Missing Barmore for over half the season has hurt us big time, Peppers has been out for what 5 games and Bentley is still out.
We need at least one more high end CB to compliment Gonzalez.
Add in a dominant edge rusher and improve our depth, dee will be set.
We all know the OL is terrible. We have money to sign some decent UFA's and need to add depth at the draft. Sign Trey Smith and Cam Robinson and the line is fixed.
Draft one of McMillan ( WR), if he is gone, Carter or Williams as an Edge Rusher would be next.
If we cannot get McMillan, then we need to sign a #1 WR free agent.

Tet would be awesome with his size and skill. It may still be worth trading down later in the first and grab Burden or Egbuka. Not a huge gap between those guys, imo. Egbuka is really interesting - he's considered to be 1/2 a tier below the other 2 guys, but he's faster and arguably runs better routes. I'd love to see them grab him in the 20s, while picking up a 2026 1st and extra picks in this draft.

If they want to go pass rush, Carter would be great in the top 6 picks or if they want to move back a bit, grab Jack Sawyer.

Might be an early sign that there's no interest from the NFL.

If it's real, it'd be pretty embarrassing if that's the job he took. Maybe not as embarrassing as taking the UMass job, but if he's going to take a college job, it should really only be Navy or a playoff-caliber school. Coaching 8-4 seasons at an average program shouldn't be how his career ends.

I agree with you, if we can trade down and grab another first rounder lets do it. Only issue is having the patience with the two picks in 2026. I am not sure how that draft would compare to this year's draft?

Maybe his GF goes there

Everything I read about this draft was that it was deep, but not really elite at the top. However, I am also impatient and would prefer multiple picks in this draft, especially with how deep it is.

Grabbing a first next season would be nice to hold onto though - for possible trade up purposes (hopefully less reluctance to trade up with the new regime) and to look at next years draft class, which may be stronger at the top. I don't expect the Patriots to win the division next season, even with a top 4 pick or a perfect draft, so loading up over the next 2 draft years is okay with their current situation.

I’d normally agree with this thought process. BUT… with how Drake Maye is progressing I’d look to build something special as soon as possible. If Maye is the real deal, he will get PAID on his next contract. I see no reason they shouldn’t load up summer 2025 for next season, while the young padawan is on his rookie deal.

With regard to the 2025 Draft, I’d be all in on making some kind of deal to get an extra 1st this year or next. However, my very real and very justified concern is can the Patriots be trusted to use those picks wisely? With the exception of Drake Maye - a pick any of us could have made - the Patriots’ personnel department hasn’t had any real draft success in quite some time. And it’s been getting worse, not better.

Best guess i make is Belichick realizes that rightfully, no team is going to give him complete and total control over their organization like he had in New England given how piss poor his drafting/personnel decisions were even with Brady still around.

Next best thing is being a college coach. Where you are the organization since boosters don't usually have a say in how you run things.

Don't get me wrong. I fully expect them to push for a wildcard spot next season... I just don't think this draft is so strong at the top that it's worth reaching for a guy that isn't THAT much better than a guy picked 10 spots lower. There are a few teams that will overpay to fill a specific need (probably QB) when the Patriots are very clearly in a good spot there. I have relatively high expectations for the team next season, but I'd prefer smart moves over rushing.

No team has two first this year or next. Only two teams ( Buff and chitown) have 2 second round picks this year. It is not a good year to want to trade out of a top 5 pick. First not a strong draft. Second no one has the ammo to make it worthwhile for pats.

There are no studs at the top of this draft imo, but there are kids there who fill immediate needs. IF they decide to trade back I hope it’d for roster players who can help now. 2nd and 3rd round picks in 2026/ 2027 are of no interest to me in terms of trading back out of a top 5 pick next summer.

They have the cap space to make this team competitive next season

I have zero confidence in Eliot Wolf to make this team competitive next season regardless of the cap space available. He botched the WR position and he botched the OL. He cannot be trusted.

He has to go before the Patriots will be competitive again. I’d like to be wrong, but I don’t think I am.

If it wasn't obvious to anyone at this point, Bill is a hack. He got totally f***ing lucky to have Brady drop into his lap and make him look good. You think that would have been enough, but his ego took over and he showed the entire football world what he really is: a bad coach that was blessed to have the best player of all time win titles for him. The NFL knows this, which is why he's interviewing with second tier college programs. He's desperate. If Bill was above suffering the indignity of reporters daring to ask him why the team sucked the last 5 years here, what makes him think he'd be human enough to go into a top prospect's living room and answer questions? He's a clown. He's been exposed. He's a JAG.

You honestly think Brady would have had the same career if he had got drafted by any other team?
