Patriots/NFL 2024 Regular Season: Part II - If the NFL season ended today, the Patriots would have the No. 2 pick in the draft

I still think McDaniels is one of the best oc in football so i wouldn't hate it but there would be very little buzz for me with firing Mayo at the end of the year just to bring in Vrabel. It would just feel like a team refusing to let go of a closed chapter in its history. One former Patriots player didn't work so try another.

If Flores and McDaniels as the two with the most power on the coaching staff didn't have the potential of the locker room becoming the nfl version of chernobyl, i would rather have Flores as the teams coach than Vrabel.

If Vrabel is willing to come to the Patriots this offseason is a huge sliding door moment in the future of the Patriots organization. If Robert Kraft decides to stay with Mayo when that good of an option is actually willing to come here its going to set the franchise back 2-3 years minimum.

Should've hired Vrabel in the first place
I have never once said this in the decades I’ve been a Patriots fan, but I sincerely hope that they get annihilated in the most hideous way possible in the next three games so they have no choice but to fire Mayo, the rest of the coaches, and the front office support staff.

EVERYONE, ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE can see that this is a total train wreck and there needs to be complete reset. How is it that we all can see it and they don’t? It blows my mind that men so rich and powerful can be so oblivious to what’s right in front of them.

Is Vrabel that special? He was fired from Tennessee after going 6-18 in his last 24 games as HC. His teams were known for running the ball & grinding out wins. Did he play to the teams strengths, as Derrick Henry was his best player and his QB was Tannenhill? I’m not against the idea of him as HC of the Pats, but I just don’t know why folks are so confident he’s the best option here to develop Drake Maye.

I think people are confident that he will hire a competent coach to guide the QB if he has organizational control unlike what he had in Tennessee.

Besides, does anyone think Vrabel and his staff would be worse than what the Patriots have now? Vrabel has head coaching experience, a Coach of the Year Award, and playoff wins unlike Mayo.

Agreed.

I think Vrabel is better than Mayo but I don’t think that’s saying much. In an ideal world Ben Johnson would be our HC next season but I’ll put that as 1% chance

Vrabel going 54-45, getting a number 1 seed, and going to an AFC Championship with Ryan Tannehill and Marcus Mariota as his quarterbacks is impressive to me.

It only started to go downhill there after they let A.J Brown go for reasons that remain unclear. Vrabel and a good OC would be about as good as we could ask for imo

My dream hire would be Flores but he's nuclear untouchable.

Vrabel overachieved in Tennessee and the only reason he stopped winning was because of brain dead GM moves like giving up AJ Brown for nothing

As an outsider, I like Vrabel and think Mayo is articulate and not much else. Oc is the problem, McD Is overrated; it was mostly BRADY.
Mayo ‘not much else’

You are the Goat.

I wish you health & happiness - I look forward to your opinions I rarely agree but they never fail to get my attention

As for Mayo
7 time voted captain by the undefeated team

Gotta think they know people

Any awards he won as a player are irrelevant in a discussion of his coaching acumen.
