There was a time when the Red Sox being swept at Fenway was a rarity. Not anymore. This one was just about expected.
Piss poor showing in every aspect of the game. Fifth inning killed them today. Up 4-0, Houck walks the first hitter. Terrible. Single, then another walk. To a guy hitting .156 who was trying to make an out (bunting). Next, a grounder Casas. Takes the lazy out instead of throwing home for the force. Gives up the run and takes off the DP possibility. Fly out to left, O'Neill sends up a balloon to home, allowing another run to score and the other runner to go to third. That guy scores on a sharp single to left, probably wouldn't have scored if still on 2nd. Bad pitching, bad fielding, bad baseball.
Sox need 3 bombs to get 5 runs. The usual 10 K's. Hit into 3 DP's, 2 by Duran! And a horrible baserunning gaffe by Yoshida, thrown out at 3rd base by 15 feet.
But I'm looking forward to watching the Sox play twice tomorrow. Twice the fun.
