Clearly you missed the ole point of my post, you're not coming back with you're third goalie in that situation , Allen had just played a very good game monday.

Personaly i would've gone with Monty, nothing wrong with playing your number 1 on back to back from time to time.

Giving the net to Primeau yesterday was a stupid decision.

They don't see Primeau as their third goalie.. they see him as their 2nd goalie while they keep Allen in game shape for his eventual trade.

They aren't going to play goalies in back to back when they have a three goalie rotation. Nor are they going to forego their plan for development on a rebuilding year to chase a play-off spot they know they aren't ready or capable of getting.

What you view they should do is an entirely different plan than what they are executing. It's not a stupid decision, it's a justifiable decision especially in the context of what they are doing.

If that is the case then what is the reason for the usage of Ylonen on the 4th line, Gally on PP2, no OT time for Slaf, 26 minute per game for Matheson etc. etc.

Clearly they don't think Ylonen has earned a higher place in the line-up - I like him too but he doesn't do enough consistently to have earned that.

Who else is going on PP2? Ylonen and Roy are both on the PP.

I don't know why they don't use Slaf on OT more but he's getting double shifted more and more, so it's probably coming.

Matheson is their veteran defenseman and they are trying to keep from giving all their young players more than they can handle right now?

Development isn't always giving everyone the keys to the kingdom all the time, managing confidence is important.

That being said they aren't going to do everything right all of the time for development and not all decisions will be made that I agree with on either end of it.. but lambasting the Primeau start choice is silly because he has played some very good games recently.

I actually think he's not getting OT time that much, because he's getting double shifted. His TOI is still getting ultra managed.

Well obviously we see things differently, we where only 4 points of a playoffs spot after getting 4 points out of 6 versus EDM COL and Jersey had a chance to go for a 3 games winning streak (would have been a first this season) winning important meaningful games is also very important for development.

Dont get me wrong my anger is not directed to Primeau........only at the management for that silly decision.

Being just a few points out of wild card spot is one thing.
Being just a few points out of wild card with 5 teams to catch and 1 right behind is another.

last 10 games Mtl did better than 1 (NYI) team only. Buf behind gained 2 pts.

Hence de 1-2% real shot at the PO at this point

We’ll have a better idea of where Habs stand 9-days from now as they head into their week off.

Habs need 5-of 8pts vs Bos, Sens, NYI, Pit

Like I said back in October: Dach comes off the IR for game 1
Dach had his surgery on October 31st.

He cannot be activated before an 8-month convalescence period, which ends on or about June 30th.

The reason for that:

Kirby Dach a été opéré à un genou par un dénommé Robert Marx, docteur très réputé dans la région de New York qui s’est également occupé de Christian Dvorak.

Or, pour que Marx prenne en charge le dossier de Dach, les Canadiens de Montréal ont dû accepter une condition sine qua non : le joueur qui passe sous le bistouri ne peut revenir au jeu qu’après une convalescence de huit mois.

Translation summary: Dach was operated by very reputable NY surgeon Richard Marx (who also handled Dvorak). In order for Dr. Marx to accept to take on Dach for surgery, the Habs had to firmly and unequivocally agree that Dach can only return to action after 8 months have elapsed post-surgery.

Dr. Marx saw too many athletes attempt comebacks within 6-7 months only to experience groin and hip issues.

Does it mean that a return before June 30th is impossible? Likely improbable.

Next season I think we break through. Should have a healthy Newhook & Dach. Roy and Heineman be here full time. I have little doubt we trade for a goal-scoring forward this summer. The young defense start to mature. Have high pick in draft also

Then the following season take an even bigger step forward and push for a Cup. as many contracts be off the books and Gallagher likely bought out. Giving us 15-20 million in cap room to acquire a star

This team once again is becoming an excuse machine,Caulfield has now bought into it with his "league doesn't care comment"last time I checked the teams out west like Winnipeg /Vancouver have a tougher travel schedule and are 1-2 in the standings,so much for that excuse.Friday's "On jase" episode and Saturdays L'antichambre episode pretty much nailed it.Not a Norman Flynn fan but he was absolutely right about Saturdays game. The rookie coaching staff is now starting to affect the culture and ultimately the development, before Sat. Nights game i was wondering if they would start a new trend and play two absolute stinkers in a row and voila they did ,.Bravo Jeff/Kent . Yes we are young, everyone knows it but how do you account for lack of effort ? Listen to Gilbert Delorme talk about back to backs and overall player treatment and what they have at their disposal to help them with sleep, nutrition & etc., these players are treated like Greek Gods for Pete's sake. The whole idea of a rebuild and build a coach approach is a monumental Fu%&k up on management's part in my humble opinion and once again the fans are made to suffer through it.Would I buy tickets to watch this team, absolutely not! Rebuild or not you still are in business to entertain PAYING customers. If you want the Pom Pom explanation of what your seeing look no further than Stu Cowen and Eric Engels you could swear that they saw Kent Hughes walk on water too.

Absolutely.....................once Dach went down, we all knew the season was going to be more of the same, with the playoffs being a no go........................
There have been some nice surprises 45 games in, and we can take that, and continue to play as well as possible, and now it's time to make a few deals, and get more draft capital.

There is no playoff expectation here, and way too many teams to realistically crawl over......this team is not able to pull off 7-8 wins in a row, so...............

Absolutely agree here, more realistic.
I do think also, they will buy out Gally this summer.

What a silly thread,

10 regulation wins in 46 games,

8 points out of the playoffs

.489 points %

In order to make up those 8 points, the team would need to increase the points % to about .750 or .800

How do you expect this team to elevate their level to that extent??

What changes are you expecting to be made?

Is their a trade for McDavid and Leon that I don't know about?
Bringing in players is a waist right now, they are losing to teams they should be beating and winning and showing up (except the Boston game) for teams that they shouldn't based on talent, they're play is inconsistent and eratic to say the least, seen this movie so many times in the past thirty years. But then again Montreal is stuck with their " coach has to speak French bullshit " which results in having an extremely small pool of coaches to pick from.

What a silly thread,

It's fine to be optimistic, but it is silly to be delusional. and ignore all statistics and facts,

Is their a trade for McDavid and Leon that I don't know about?

The team is on pace for about 78 points, playoff cutoff will be in the mid 90's

What do you expect to change in the second half of the season?

And what team or teams, that are currently in a playoff spot, do you expect to beat out?
Ok mr party pooper.

Thing is it doesnt really help to get X pts if other teams ahead get same X pts or even more pts.
You need to win AND them to lose.

Too many teams.

the so-called 4 pts games are exactly that.

Oh the French as an excuse angle again.
works both ways. How about the French players wishing to play for the Habs? Maybe we are not getting the good ones? Or the disproportionate number (8/35) of French refs?

I'm impressed that they stayed in the race this long, mainly because of the guys in net. 8 points back though with 4 teams in between, 3 of whom have games in hand?

If Detroit's push is for real, will be interesting to see who is out. Could even be the Leafs or Tampa. Alex Lyon saved Florida's season last year, may do it for the Wings this year.

Yikes, the believe thread is like the tank thread but with different colored shoes. I was expecting some kind of positivism. Here: If they make it, I can't wait to see what Slaf can do in playoff hockey :yo:
