Not true. In the 2024 off season, you can offer sheet up to $1,415,740 with no compensation. Offer Sheet Calculator - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

So, for example, VGK RHD Kaedan Korczak could be an offer sheet candidate. As to forward, VGK F Pavel Dorofeyev would be an offer sheet candidate. If the Sharks signed either to an offer sheet where the AAV is $1,415,740, probably not possible for VGK to match. And no compensation owed to VGK. And the icing on the cake of poaching a VGK RFA for no compensation is priceless.
I wouldn't discount LV's ability to get rid of guys. Lehner's cap hit of $5 mill is part of their off-season cap, of 20 players and $86.8 mill. If he's still on LTIR, they have enough cap room to fill out the final 4 roster spots, though have to say goodbye to Martinez and Marsh who are UFA. Or try to move other players like Theordore with MNTC but a year left, same with McNabb. Howden likely someone they move off as well with a year left.

So, never know. But, Grier needs to turn over a lof of the roster. This isn't the NFL where those 3 extra draft picks in rounds 1 and 2 over the next 2 drafts are going to be walking onto the roster right after getting drafted. Going to be 2-3 years after they get selected before they arrive.

Pretty much this. But even regardless of that there's been research done which suggests that if there is any correlation between dressing a goon and what happens to your players, it's that you're more likely to have guys get hurt or be the victim of suspension-worthy hits and whatnot. But for the most part having an enforcer mostly does nothing and almost certainly doesn't actually help you sustain less injuries or be targeted for fewer cheap shots.

And that's just like 15-20 minutes of research and link-gathering.

This is exactly what I’m talking about and at the the very worst it forces them to make a trade they don’t want to make

I keep waiting for the breaking news where Grier is accused of tampering and the Sharks are stripped of their next 4 1st rounders, allowing Chicago to move up to #1 because nothing bad's ever happened to the Blackhawks org. Ever.

Can't it be something simpler like his leg flies off when he jumps over the boards?

Thinking about it, the forwards are fine. Maybe you'd like an extra top-six center:

Eklund-Granlund-Zetterlund
Kostin-Celebrini-Kunin
Gushchin-Sturm-Smith
Bordeleau-Carpenter-Graf

The defense is a real issue. The Sharks need a puck-mover. I would target Reilly from TML. They also need a shutdown guy...Roy, Faulk, etc. should work. Trade Ferraro, buyout Vlasic:

Rielly-Emberson
Thrun-Faulk
Mukhamadullin-Benning
Rutta

Now each rookie is paired with a vet.
No. Just f***ing No.

After I posted that comment, I did some digging and it looks like most people think Celebrin is better than Hagens. Now McKenna in 2026 draft is said to be on Bedard level and Bedard is much better than Celebrini.
Never look too far forward. Look at Raty, Eiserman, Khiviharju as recent examples that were supposed to be #1 quality. Good chance 2/3 aren’t even drafted in the first round.

McKenna is pretty hyped so far, but things can change a lot for a prospect in 2 years.
