F it. The Avs have 3 of the top 7 scorers in the league, arguably the best player at each F and D position, and cant win a game because they give the other team 2-3 free goals to start every other game. Georgiev is a coin flip at best, Annunnen is an AHL goalie, and the only hope we have is 21 yo Russian who could be years away still.

Its dumb AF to give a goalie $11M+, but Shesterkin could easily be the difference putting the Avs on par with the Jets/Stars in the West.

Rantanen likely deserves $11-12.5M as well and I'm sure Rangers fans would love him, but at that price and worth letting Igor go?

Colorado already won a Cup without an elite goalie

Getting rid of a consistent top-10 scorer in the league seems like a bad move in my opinion.

Getting Landeskog back at even 80% would make that roster look very similar, but holy hell this team is awful to watch right now. Goalies cant save anything. 3rd in the league in goals against.

Last night was
2 goals on 2 shots
3 goals on 6 shots
4 goals on 10 shots

Rs have to EVENTUALLY move on from Igor due to cap reality.
I see short term 12.2 x 5 gives him what he wants
BUT
he has to capitulate to bern and no NMC, reasonable extensive NTCs

the prob here is not quality of currency in your offer.
Prob is it is not currency Rs should accept.
We want/need quality youth
Rant is no that.

If a good enough add from another team, a 3 way, that is possible

Rs can ensure team taking now can negotiate beforehand, be assured he is extended as agreed, no surprises

first avenue should be LAK who want him BAD
Shesty + retained Zib as core for Byfield

compete with that...

I think Shesty would definitely help Avs win cups but I wouldn't give up Rants if I was them. & frankly it wouldn't cost that much anyway.

Hypothetically if Shesty goes on the market I think Avs should push hard for him. Though I'm clueless on their cap

I respect wanting youth, but youre significantly downgrading how good Rantanen is. You likely get 4 more extremely high end 100+ point years before he starts to regress around 32-33.

The argument of not being able win without Igor is way greater than Byfield and cap space > Rantanen hoping Byfield turns into this super stud.

Nice word salad, Bern.

The Rangers will sign Shesterskin for whatever he wants, and work around that. There's no other realistic option.

Lol. Bern being bern offering disgusting value for top yount players.

It'll cost more than Shesty just to dump zib

I would love to have Rantanen, but I think if the concern is not giving up free goals to the other team, you could get a goalie for a lot less.

If Shesterkin goes on the market where Colorado is interested, then I think Rantanen is also on the market. He will also be a UFA and I don't see how they can sign both for close to 12M each. Some other moves will need to happen.

I appreciate the assessment, but Rs best play here is TO EXTEND its window
This means selling quality vets for quality youth which = better roster mgmt/cap flexibility.

If I wanted to go all in, win now, Rantanen is a respectable option to consider
but
in all sports almost always win now is foolish, doesn't work

am open to a high end 3 way

maybe devils want Rant, you take Shesty, we take Nemic + Silayev, something along those lines?

Much more than a mere word salad

It is a cogent position, whether you agree or prefer another route

Yes, it is a gamble but if martians kidnapped Shesty today, we would be ok w/Garand rushed into co-starter w/mo games, Quick for less games + tougher schedule, plus Domingue to fill in the gaps

Whether or not we sign Shesty is less on the #, we can go 12.2 x 5, imo, and whether or not there is any nmc/extent of other restriction.
That is critical and if he is inflexible there, fug him, deal him now

But eventually, he has to go
Smart move is to extend our window

wrong + zib retained is positive value

zib is in a funk yes, which is not good, I admit but unless it is something we do not know about [concussions?], it is a small whoop, not a big whoop

we are righteously pissed b'c he played so well w/Kreider, but has forgotten that chemistry

Colorado probably shouldn't do it and the Rangers definitely shouldn't do it.

I don't think Colorado needs Shesterkin to win the cup, but I think the Rangers definitely need him to win the cup.

Colorado won the cup with arguably the worst cup winning goalie performance possibly ever. Definitely below 2009 Fleury and 2010 Niemi.

They're definitely not as deep currently as that team though.

I'd put my money on the Martians thing ahead of your other ideas here.
